DC coupling of an audio output is a bad idea.
Yes, if you are combining DC Coupled CV output with audio, you could cause damage if you accidentally
routed DC output to speakers.
However, if you use an interface to only send CV, there is no reason that you will get confused.
I own two MOTU Travelers, a Mk1 and a Mk3.
I found out about the DC Coupled capability of my Travelers by accident. I was looking for reasons as to why I
would upgrade Komplete 10 Ultimate to Komplete 11 Ultimate. I knew about the major change; Reaktor 6.
So I went to NI's web page and started looking. That's when I found the following tutorials from Owen Valles at CALARTS.
https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/synths/reaktor-6/connect/
Watch these videos if you are into synthesizers. They have renewed my interest in programming my own soft synths. And maybe
even getting a Eurorack down the road.
In the meantime, Mr. Valles (and by extension, Native Instruments) specifically recommend MOTU interfaces for the job of interfacing
external synth hardware with Reaktor 6. Note that he is using a single MOTU interface to send and receive audio and CV in these demonstrations.
Traveler Mk1's are selling for $150 on eBay, so it really is an elegant and inexpensive way to get CV signals in and out of Reaktor 6.
