Apollo Thunderbolt/Firewire

I'm configuring a new late 2013 Mac Pro, but I'm still working in my 2008 8 core. So I decided to download the Thunderbolt Version of 7.10 software for my new Mac, but I get a message that my Firewire ports on the Apollo will be disabled. Is this permanent? or just a matter of downloading the Firewire version again.
I need to keep working in my old computer while I'm slowly building the new one.
Thanks for your help.

Don't switch to thunderbolt drivers if you still want to use the firewire ports. It will update the firmware on the Apollo and disable the firewire ports. There's probably a way to rollback the firmware and driver but that's work for nothing. Just don't switch to thunderbolt until you're actually ready to use it.
