Spent some time with GK and UA at NAMM today. The new Twin is excellent. New Console treatment for the talkback mic was a nice touch, but I think Windows users will be pleased to see pics of Expanded multi-Apollo Console running really well on Windows.

Expanded Console. Windows users will be happy.

And that new Twin Quad should be a great selling product for UA. At half the price of a BF Apollo 8, but with the same amount of DSP, that thing should be a popular interface for the musician who is serious about recording, yet wants to record at home. Add an external 8-pre of some sort that has ADAT-out, and record a band of Saturday-night-musicians.

Of course it can't compare to a studio with great equipment and a good tracking room - oh yes, and an experienced, knowledgeable engineer. But with UAD plug-ins, even legacy ones, there should be a lot of good sounds recorded. I think this product hits a bulls eye for UA.

Hope this extends to USB3 users at some point

Hope this make Twin USB really work...
Starting at 3:13 the interview asks Gannon, "Can you aggregate the USBs or are they single only?"

Gannon answers, "They're single only."

IIRC some months back when asked the same question here at the forum, Gannon mentioned that USB 3 doesn't have enough bandwidth to do this. USB-C and TB3 do have the necessary bandwidth. Hopefully I'm misremembering.

It was ironical about the fact that the Twin USB actually works badly... it seems to be still a lot of incompatibility and poor performance issues with USB3... ie windows users...

You're here Matt? And you didn't come visit me over at the analog bar? I'll show you how to use an 1176
He kept it secret from almost everybody. You can trust him to know, but not tell. Maybe he really works for the CIA. He'll never tell.

Drew, I looked for you yesterday. Really hoped to find you, but didn't. What crappy weather, too, eh? Bummer!

Actually, after the fourth trip back to the UA booth I'd given up on pinning down GK, too, then suddenly Forest saw him behind me. I was literally about to head home.

Yeah, super bummed I didn't see you. HUGE crowds at the booth.

As of now the only USB device is the Twin, and only a single Twin is allowed in any system, so I do not see USB expanded happening in the near future.

You must have been there during one of my "rounds" around the floor, bummer. Yeah, Friday was crazy with the downpours but today was super nice. Supposed to be more rain tomorrow, luckily we don't have to load out the 610 console. GK was all over the place with shoots and making sure the stage ran smoothly. Not surprised you had trouble tracking him down. Just Blaze drew the most people, they were filling up the aisles, essentially bringing the show to a stop around the booth!!
