Millennia isn't known for color. The cleanest Mic Chain in existence is probably DPA mic-Millenia preamp.

Nseq2 is definitely a tone box as well. It has dual topologies allowing the use of discrete or tube make up gain. Smooth eq with subtle character like the famous Manley passive eq.

I hear the sound of the topology modelling. The tube is more 'harmonic' with a touch of compression; the JFET has a very subtle bite to it.
After all the Shadow Hills ragging, I was surprised when I demo'd the Millenia. It has a nice character and is much easier to use than the Manley, with the variable Q mids and sweepable frequencies. The bass is a little tighter as well. NSEQ, the API's and the Pultec and you have a lot of tonal options!
Check this out - put the NSEQ in Mid / Side mode and set the Mid to JFET and the Side to tube (or Tube - JFET).
Brainworks doesn't always hit the mark, but many of their products are really good, imho.

I really like this EQ a lot ...very smooth and sonically interesting

Brainworx has hit on a lot of stuff and the SHMC is usable..but I can't help but think about how much better the SHMC could have been if it was modeled to use more DSP. More DSP may mean nothing, but it is something to wonder about.

Not to get off topic, but considering the DSP usage of the Neve 33609 and its wonderful transformer coloration, it is a puzzle how Brainworx 'modelled' the 3 transformers (not to mention the tube amplification) in the SHMC. I don't doubt that more efficient algorithms have been devised since the 33609 came out, but there must be some efficiency limit to model the myriad interactions of a tube / transformer compressor topology. This also raises the question of whether UA is sharing any of their algorithmic circuit modules with 3rd party companies that are releasing UAD plugins, or just the platform porting requirements. And, FWIW, the only UAD Brainworx plugin that is also available 'native' is the BX_Digital V2.
That said, I demo'd the NSEQ with an ear to how useful and sonically pleasing the plugin sounds, regardless of its accuracy compared to the hardware, and so far, it has seriously tempted me to break my oath not to buy enother eq plugin! For this mostly 'In The Box' mastering engineer, it would be an excellent and unique addition to the arsenal.

Hi guys,
I'm using the last days the millennia NSEQ-2 plugin (ninth day of the demo period).
I cannot believe how good is on mastering acoustic stuff... It's amazing and works very well (tube m/s) with the massive eq.
You really feel the analog tube character in the sound while the sound stays fat even extreme cuts.
I also like the fet character and in the next few days I'm gonna try to use it on rock and pop stuff.
In one week I'm gonna add a new UAD quad on my system and this plugin will be my first choice of the promo offer!
Really Happy!

Cheers

I find millennia gives to the songs a more recognizable sound... color..
But massive is still great and smooth and more flexible.
The point is that just trying to use both in the master chain, (and especially NSEQ2 in m/s tube mode), I've got very fast a sound that until now I was dreaming that should listen only with hardware equipment.
Ok.. it depends also on the genre etc but I'll make some more tests in the next few days. I have an instinct that I will not feel disappointed.

I love this EQ and feel they did a great job getting it to sound like the hardware. I use it for mastering as well as guitar and vocal tracks

the nseq2 and MP together are truely fine !

+1 to combine NSEQ and MP on master. Adds another dimension

I think combining a couple of different other EQs on inserts can also work a treat. Try 31102 and Harrison...smooth and airy..

Experiment with your own combos (as long as you have enough DSP) with little cuts here and there..
