Blue Cat's PatchWork - Fully Configurable Plug-Ins Chainer

main.png

Blue Cat's PatchWork is a universal plug-ins patchbay that can host up to 64 VST plug-ins into any Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) in one instance.

It is possible to chain effects in series or create up to 8 parallel chains that can be activated independently. This lets you create your favorite effects or instruments configurations within the plug-in, without the need for multiple busses. These configurations can be saved as presets and recalled instantly, or shared with multiple DAWs, using any plug-in format (full list below).

Despite the name, you can forget about wires or cables: configuring plug-ins routing is as simple as adding or removing a row or a column in the rack's matrix.

For each plug-in slot, latency compensation, presets management, undo/redo integration, and individual plug-in bypass are included for optimal operation. The plug-in also stores the position of the window for each plug-in so that the layout is restored with your session or saved with presets.

The plug-in is available as an audio effect or a virtual instrument so that it can be inserted on any type of track, with up to 8 audio channels.

Input and output level meters are also included to monitor the signal that is dispatched to inserted plug-ins.

Have you tried it out Uncle E? The global wet/dry could be an answer to some of our prayers.

I Use the blue cat patch bay plug , or the MB 7 mixer, and insert UAD 64 bit VST plugs as inserts, in the blue cat , go to Blue Cat audio for complete info, it's totally rocks
And what is really cool is you can set up complete channel strips of your own and total recall just like patches
You really got to check it out,

So your using PTHD11 in Windows? And the Blue cat patch bay plug is AAX? So the Blue Cat is like a wrapper for AAX?
If so I'm suprised they got Avids blessing. Fxpansion had a wrapper for AAX and Avid squashed it immediately!!

Wow,
Maybe its not a wrapper but it sure sound like a way to use all your existing Plugs and VSTis in Pro Tools 11
I have my Ilok authorized for 11 but have been waiting for UA to release AAX!
Going to the website. Sorry about all the questions, it just seems unbelievable. I guess I should jump on it while its still on sale!
Thanks again

Buy it get it start using UAD plugs now, and slate digital, any 64 bit VST, the cool thing is you can do parallel processing, with out using another AUX track, I mean there are so many cool uses beyond just using UAD plugs, Blue Cat audio is really creating some well thought out tools, and there support is great as well

What ratio of FTR bounce are you able to get—particularly the Massive Passive?

I've been running the demo, it's already on my "must buy" list. The parallel slots are just what I was looking for. Seems to work great with UAD. Sonar still needs a full stop every so often for a re-sync, but it's a lot less obtrusive than the early versions of the MB7 v.2.

any problems with sessions with slate instantiated not opening??

@gk. I am not a programmer, but how come BCA can release two products that let us run ua in pt11 and we have zip from UA? U guys talked up your PT alignment: its been sitting in my computer unused since last spring unused ?

I bought an octo deal but didn't have the money to do custom upgrade if you guys had been upfront about no aax64 plugs till late, late,Late in the year, some of us may have planned our purchases differently ?

Just get the Blue Cat, run UAD in PT 11 with all the benefits of off line bounce, releasing the plug in if no audio etc, don't worry about UAD , you can use your UAD plugs now with better benefits than if they where just inserting a plug in, as I say doesn't hurt to check it out.
No I don't work for Blue Cat, I'm just a end user who is totally impressed with there audio tools.
I'm mixing a lot of music stems right now for a movie, and the Blue Cat allows me to to work so much faster , I can create my own channel strips with any combination and safe as presets that I recall, and use anytime, plus use only 1 insert slot in PT

I'm confused as to why anyone would pick this plugin over the cheaper DDMF metaplugin which supports both VST and AU? I must say I'm demoing both, and the ability to run my Airwindows plugins in Cubase is currently leaning me towards their plugin. Plus the ability to blend wet/dry per plugin, and not just on the master is also unique and VERY helpful. Does Patchwork add anything new/better than DDMF metaplugin? As far as I can tell metaplugin actually offers more functionality at a cheaper price - though I must admit the BlueCat plugin's GUI looks much better, and the copy-paste & undo/redo options + preset storing per plugin seems makes it easier to setup.

If only BlueCat supported per plugin wet/dry and AU...

Stability. I had high hopes for Metaplugin but it never played nice with Sonar or Wavelab. BTW, parallel mode on the Blue Cat is another way of doing wet/dry per plugin, you just have to get used to it. If your system is stable with both, then pick the one you like best. :)

This sounds pretty amazing - has anyone had any stability issues running UAD/Slate stuff this way in PT11? This would really be a lifesaver for a project I'm working on right now! Thanks!!!
