New apollo twin mk2 grey color

Hey folks,

Just saw the color of the new apollo twin mk2 and i beleive the silver was an amazing piece of industrial design art. The grey looks so dull and Avid/apogee?

Yeah, I agree. The silver Twin looks far better to me too, such a timeless design. This will look dated pretty quick.
But at least they didn't use the same finish as the rack Apollos. That would have been truly awful.

Why never any MIDI ?
Be nice to see a rackmount, desktop space being very precious.
USB 3.0 port or two maybe since there is plenty of throughput.
Prefer Black over Grey but Grey isn't awful for a desktop.

Wow you found something that hasn't been announced yet. A quad twin? Dual Dsp chips are here?????? Time to celebrate.

Because very few are in need of MIDI ports on their interfaces these days. Most people plug their controllers directly via USB, and MIDI interfaces are cheap and small. It would add cost and little value for the majority.

You mean a rackmountable Twin? That won't happen.

I like the 2 controllable monitor outputs, that is one of those "finally" for me.

Maybe MIDI is an issue size-wise for a small interface. That I could accept.
But if MIDI is cheap, at that price range, would it be a deal breaker?
If it had a USB port, I could piggy back the MIDI through the Apollo. At least that, or for an iLok or something.
Ports are hard to come by, especially on laptops. This is the very meaning of the word "interface", it shouldn't require several to get the job done.
(for me I need a Mio for MIDI and an RCA->ADAT converter for my Kemper so the wires and mess is the opposite intention of a nice tidy interface design)

Here is an easier read w/o the annoying popup:

The two controllable monitor outputs has been there since Console 2.0

Every little feature will add to the cost and complexity of the device. It would make a lot more sense to add a second headphone jack for example. So would an ADAT out.
It's an audio interface after all.

It's interesting that there's no model number on the SHARCs though. Could they have edited that out? If so, why?

Duh, yeah, I forgot. I use and external one because I like physical knobs to control monitor sound levels.
Would be nice to have a feature where you can toggle what the big assed knob controls, like Apogee does.
Since it is "digital", shouldn't cost more than a re-design of the facing and an extra 2 LED lights.

I think that's what it does now, looks like there's an entire new row of functions on the mk2, so you can press ALT now to switch and control ALT monitors?? I also see DIM, MUTE, TALKBACK, etc. looks like I can finally replace my monitor controller and get a Quad twin at once, cool!
