Satellite Heat Issue

I just purchased a new Uad Satellite OCTO Thunderbolt and I have notice it gets a lot warmer than my other Satellite OCTO's. Have any of you run into this? Even when it is sitting Idle it is still warmer than my other ones. I am concerned about this and I'm wondering if I should send it back. All of the unit have good ventilation.

Make sure they sent you the correct and original factory power supply.

Try plugging the unit into another source.

Make sure the unit is not full of dust and dirt.

It Look like the same power supply It was brand-new. The LED light color look a little different. It didn't seem to be the same built quality as my other units. Maybe this one missed quality control. I sent it back to the store for an exchange.

I haven't observed a heat issue, but one of my two quads has a clear white LED, and the new one is sort of dirty white. It's kind of ugly, honestly. It would not be noticeable if there weren't 3 other UA digital devices sitting near it, just wanted to chime in that we are probably not alone.

Just a thought. Are they daisy chained? Is the new one first in the chain? If so it could be that the thunderbolt traffic is generating the extra heat.

If it's not super hot I wouldn't really worry about it though.

I tried it in all different configurations. I tried direct to the Mac Pro, daisy-chain, and I even swapped the power supplies. I also powered the unit last so that it had the lightest load but even then it was warmer.

Yeah! this one was the same way. Even when it was idle it was much warmer and you are right sitting next to my other units you could tell the difference. I guess some are using different parts.

Perhaps they are using different components which generates more heat then. You could always contact UA about it if you haven't done so already.
I'm sure it's all to spec, but it would be interesting to know what causes the difference.

I do hope the original posters issues were fixed with a replacement unit. I know working for another manufacturer in the past that I would never trust anything being mass-produced in China unless they have there own facilities. Poor components, poor QA, intellectual theft, are all things I witnessed in the past.

My Satelitte Octo runs very hot as well, but since I don't have another to compare it to I figured this was normal.
I'd be interested to hear other Octo owners experiences regarding the unit's heat.
