I luv UA threads are pretty lame...

...but I have to admit they have outdone themselves this time. Not only did they drop a ton of neat toys on us this week, but they did something really pretty decent also.

I was feeling a little bummed that I had already spent my 20% off coupon earlier this month, but then they went ahead and issued me another one so that I could apply it to the new stuff! I'm actually pretty amazed. I know it's in their best interest to keep me buying stuff, but plenty of companies wouldn't have bothered.

In contrast, TC just put their Tube-Tech compressor "on sale". They promote it as being 50% off, but that's if you believe it would normally have cost $745. It really costs more like $600 - that's how much it is on JRRShop and a bunch of other places. Why play games to make something look like a better deal than it is?

So for $370 I can get the Tube Tech, or for $335 the two UAD 4K plugs (using the 20% off and UAROCKS coupons). In my mind one company goes out of their way to foster good will with its customers, and the other doesn't think their customers will notice that they jacked up the price of a plug to make a discount look larger than it really is.

UA are going for it with the economic downturn, we've had coupons every month this year, the 20% thing is normally only for the end of the year sale, and they timed it so you can use it on brand new plugs plus $25 off on top.... pretty damn good. =D>
Hope they'll start dropping the card's prices soon too, I wouldn't mind another UAD-2 this summer!

Aw, come on now! If a dork can't "fan-boy out" on the UA Forum, where can he?

One could not be blamed for thinking there is huge potential for this platform with so many plug-in's already on offer with plenty more to come.

The structure of the website in terms of vouchers and so-forth really is best practice except to say it was never clear how the one-off voucher works in relation to the discount.

No one yet has confirmed at least for me, does the $25 one off voucher come off the main total first and then the discount applied, leaving you with a newly revised amount?

The above would make sense but can someone please confirm?

If true then that would mean that if I had a retail voucher, that I could use it once my new total has been derived from an initial sub-total?

Then I could pay the balance with a credit card of some description?

messianic, the sequence of applying coupons and vouchers is this:

first, dollar-off coupons (like the UAROCKS offer)
    then percent off coupons,
then vouchers (like what you get when you buy a new card),
then whatever payment method (credit card and PayPal) you need to pay off the balance.

Vouchers shouldn't be confused with coupons; they are cash-equivalents, not a form of discount. For instance their balance carries over from one purchase to the next, while a coupon is consumed totally on usage in an order, even if all of it isn't required.

Even if this explanation isn't clear enough, it shouldn't take you more than a couple of minutes in the online shop to test this out.

Same here, and they even named a fantastic delay after me ! =D>
Kinda appropriate, I tend to be late personally.
Of course I felt obliged to apply the extra 20% and the rockin' 25$ and buy it on the spot.
Combined with James' recent thread about UAD-2 this just makes me feel good about my involvement with that platform.
    Probably the 4385th time.
What a great company, thanks UA !
No need to talk about the sound of the stuff ...
    Cheers,
    Cooper

Thanks for the reply and information.

I created an account and ordered something but it's not telling me how much it will actually cost after it applies the one off voucher and subsequent discount and instead comes up with some javascript message. Is this correct and shouldn't it really aim to follow through regardless?

Sorry, I can't tell you anything useful about what would or should happen if you're seeing errors during checkout. I know I wouldn't attempt to complete an order in that case. Maybe you should send UA an email.

I have access to all native plugs out there and I donīt pay for them, but I still end up with projects with 95% UA plugins...
