    New UA Demo Policy!

this is the answer to my request for a demo reset . . .

    Dear customer,

Unfortunately, we are no longer able to provide various demo resets for accounts that have already had many manual demo resets.

We now provide customer accounts with a manual demo reset (as requested by customer), only twice after the original demo reset that came with the registration of a new UAD product. So, we provide up to three free demo resets, any other demo resets will require a plug-in purchase from the on-line store.

Please see our formal demo reset policy at the following link: http://www.uaudio.com/support/uad/demo-policy.html

As I see that you have had many manual resets to your account, we can not issue any more as you requested. Moving forward, in order to obtain a demo reset for the unowned plug-ins in your account, you will need to purchase a plug-in from the on-line store. Once you have made a plug-in purchase, a demo reset is issued to your account. Only the first auth file downloaded from your account after the purchase, will contain the 14-day demo reset.

Each individual plug-in's demo period can be started individually. Please make sure to use evaluation/demo period wisely, as they can only be reset with a purchase reset moving forward.

    Thank you.

    Regards,

    Dave Roda

Thanks for the info. Seems like a fair policy, to me.

if UA were clever they would give a demo reset every time you purchased a plugin. I might purchase a plugin more readily if i knew it would come "bundled" with a demo reset, and good marketing to get hooked on the next purchase.

They already give demo resets when you purchase plugins. They've been doing it for quite some time.

Yeah, not really a new demo policy. The demo resets on any expired plug-ins whenever you purchase a new plug-in started back in August of 2010, I believe. Hehehe......pickup a Pultec Pro for $79 and get the entire UA plug-in catalog re-enabled for another 2 weeks. Then pickup a CE-1 for $99 and get another 2 week rental of all of the plug-ins and on and on! Got a big mixing session coming up......get a cheap UAD plug-in and get access to the entire library for another 2 week mix session. :P

Really a win/win for UA and it's UAD customers. UA continues to sell and promote it's extensive plug-in library and the end users can get repeated access (for 2 weeks at a time) to any expired plug-ins by simply purchasing a new plug-in. UA will sell even more, as users end up buying those plug-ins that they have been using on their mixes (as extended demos) once they expire. It's like crack I tell ya!

    Cheers,

whoops awsome! i didnt know it was an official policy...i just thought there was some glitch in my installation/registry on my system when i would update the UAD purchase that sometimes triggered this...and i quietly celebrated the accidental fortune hehe

Woah! I didn't know this, either!

UA needs to make more noise about this. This is worth talking about.

    Re: New UA Demo Policy!

    i don't think that it's so fair.

"As I see that you have had many manual resets to your account, we can not issue any more as you requested", well.....

    i asked 3 reset in 2011 and other 2 in 2012.
then i bought 1 studer + ampex&ssl in 2011 and 1176 mk2 in 2012, I do not think it has been a bad investment for UA.

they can suggest me to use properly the demo time period, but once it ain't enough.
Music for me is an (expensive) hobby, not a job and i don't stay in studio every day, and I assure you, with my obsession to remixing tracks even after several months has never been my style to use a plug in demo-mode for mixing a song.

I will adapt to these new provisions, but i disagree.

I did not know you could even get manual resets, i've just used it as a good excuse to purchase a couple new plug's!
