Plugins not fully unloading

I'm not sure exactly when this started happening, but I started paying more attention to UAD once the Error 38 started happening. When I close Sonar platinum, varying numbers of plugins remain loaded. I've seen only one, I've seen more than one. I don't know if this has anything to do with the other error. But I know that once this happens, it doesn't go away even after a cold boot and a full day of the pc not being on. Any help is greatly appreciated.

So, it gets worse the more projects I open and close, too. I opened 2 more projects and closed them. This is the result after shutting down and leaving the pc off for 2 minutes. Is there a way to 'flush' UAD? This is killing me. I went years without major issues like these.

what happens if you power down your apollo ? You may just have a bug in the gui screen ?

Also, have you reauthorized your plugs ?

It's a Duo pcie. yes, I've reauthorized. Now my projects load up with disabled plugs because of the amount of cpu being eaten up by the squatters. Because of the Error 38 issue, I have uninstalled/reinstalled as recently as 4 hours ago. Thanks for chiming in. Any idea what to try?

Don't know if this will help but did you do the "Deep" Uninstall or just the standard? UA walked me through a deep uninstall that solved some really freaky stuff I was experiencing. It involves some hidden windows and functions so I doubt I could pull it off without tech support. You won't loose any presets or saved sessions.

No, I don't know anything about the deep uninstall. Do you still have text you could post about it? Thanks much!

There was a thread floating around a while back that had a workaround for plugin resources not being released correctly as that tends to happen a lot. I wish I could give credit where it's due, but I don't remember who posted it and it hasn't been bumped in ages. (I took this from another thread I just posted it in recently where closing a session and reopening it would start throwing Out of DSP errors on sessions that were close to maxing out.)

  • Close out any apps that use audio (All of them. I've noticed for example that leaving VLC running will cause stuck DSP resources to not be relinquished with this procedure.)
  • Open the UAD Control Panel and go to the System Info tab. If all of the resources have been released correctly, you will see small amounts of DSP in use on some of your cores. (In my case, about 2-3% on average per interface core, and none on my Satellite)
  • If you see numbers drastically higher than this, the dsp resources didn't release correctly for whatever reason (again, this happens a lot, I believe GK mentioned a fix was in the works, but I haven't seen it yet).
  • Click the power buttons next to the Icons of your UAD Devices in the UAD Control Panel. Then, open up Console and Flip the UAD Mon/Rec setting at the far right under "Insert Effects" a couple times. This should drop your DSP usage down to what it actually is. (If you're planning on tracking through Console at this point, make sure that you have the setting back to UAD Rec.)
  • You can now turn the power buttons in UAD Control Panel back on and your session should now load with all the plugins enabled when you try to open it.

Cheers!
