This action requires a DSP load that exceeds the available load limit.?

I have started getting this message when trying to enable the EQ or Compression sections of the 88RS, even though I have more than half my DSP of an octo left. Strangely, I am fine loading other plugins like Ocean Way. I have tried restarting etc but still no luck, any ideas?

'This action requires a DSP load that exceeds the available load limit.

If using multiple UAD DSPs or devices, try re-enabling the plug-in to force a re-allocation.

(With some hosts this may require reloading the session or resetting the audio driver.)'

Hi DJstyleee -

It sounds like there isn't enough room left on the chip the 88RS is loaded on to turn the modules on individually - they all have to reside on the same DSP. Even though you're seeing plenty overall DSP on your OCTO, the chip hosting the 88RS is overloaded.

Try enabling DSP Load Lock in the Configurations tab in the Meter & Control panel then reload your session. That will take more resources, but all of the modules will be preallocated for.

You may also try re-installing the UAD software. Another user here (Smallstonefan) was having trouble with the DSP manager and a complete uninstall/reinstall fixed it for him.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for reply Gannon, I am still having issues even with DSP load lock enabled, glad to hear a re-instal has worked for Smallstonefan, I have a fresh OS instal scheduled in a couple of weeks, so that should resolve it.

You might just need to shuffle the plugin around. When you enabled load-lock, did you turn the plugin off and back on to let it find a chip with enough space?

Yeah I tried this first with no luck, definitely think it is due to the DSP manager, as the behaviour is odd and unexpected. A clean instal will do me good, I want to streamline this Mac for music, no personal junk...
