Loads of static and noise with Twin Duo

Hey guys...new here. First post. I JUST got in a Twin Duo today. I have a late 2016 MacBook Pro with usb C (TB 3).

I was really excited to hook up my Twin Duo and hear all the magic I've been told about Universal Audio stuff....but I'm getting unbearable static and noise on all of my outputs even with the volume turned down on the interface and without even having my DAW on. I'm using an Apple TB2 cable and a TB3 to TB2 converter from Apple.

Has there been any confirmed issues with any of the equipment I'm using and if so...how do I fix it?

    Thanks so much!

Sounds like the problem is your speakers?
Do you hear it on headphones?

If it's present on headphones too...
If it is some issue with Apollo, CS will have you do a complete uninstall/reinstall and hardware reset. (search to find those instructions) If that doesn't solve it, call them to sort it out.

I'm getting the exact same thing. I've had a Twin Duo for six months or more with flawless operation for the most part other than the occasional clicking sound from the unit. My problem started with just the monitor outs 1 and 2 being very static and loud with no volume going to them and nothing plugged in. When down the list and checked all the normal stuff speaker themselves, clock setting, grounding, other devices plugged into same outlet causing interference, etc., etc. and nothing. When I play back through headphones or lines 3+4 everything sounds fine. A installed the new software update and reset my firmware and now I'm not even getting any signal on my inputs. Checked different miss, cables, settings- nothing. Now I have no input OR output this thing is useless to me. Good thing I just bought a Focusrite Clarett 8pre so I could track my band's album with the extra inputs, now
I can switch to that to finish this album but I'm really gonna miss those Unison preamps Started a support ticket for the first problem, wonder if I should start another ticket or just send the thing in to UA now...?

Support tickets by email are not likely to get you a quick answer; you should get on the phone if you have an urgent issue.

Hey guys, I found the culprit. So I got the new MacBook Pro that has only usb-c ports, so I bought this converter thing that allows it to have 2 usb3.1 ports, ethernet, etc etc. When using that adapter, it caused LOADS of noise. As soon as I unplugged it, it went away. Has been working great ever since. Just sucks because I need the ports (Thanks Apple)....does anyone know if UA recommends a certain adapter?

I noticed too that places like Sweetwater have the Twin Duo thunderbolt 2 versions on sale...maybe UA is coming out with a USB-C version?

The genuine Apple adapters are recommended. But if you need a hub/dock with lots of ports, make sure it's a quality one; sounds like the power in the one you have is causing lots of noise in the audio.

Hmm.. .last time I checked, UAD did NOT recommend the Apple TB3 adapter: https://help.uaudio.com/hc/en-us/articles/214427746

(And yes, that's the Windows page, but if you look at the Mac page, they link to the Windows page and say to follow the guidelines on there).
