    Thanks guys.

Must add that I can't guarantee that ALL audio applications will recognise renamed plugins.

Cubase seems OK. Wavelab does not.

If anyone would like to add anything else they have tried, feel free.

UAD Plugin Mover - Updated July 9, 2013

    Hi Phil,

Under C4 it's really nice to get the renamed plug since the view from the mixer is so much better.
Only few plugs like the " Precision" serie could be trunked a little more.
Still that I found so far 2 problems here, and it is around the vst3 preset system. So, to get the rename tweak to work fully, and to be able to use our older custom presets, it seems that we need to do few more steps and one of these steps could be much less easy to do:

1- We need to rename the vst3 preset folder for each plug (like "C:\Documents and Settings\***user***\Application Data\VST3 Presets\Universal Audio, Inc_\UAD EL7 FATSO Sr" to "C:\Documents and Settings\***user***\Application Data\VST3 Presets\Universal Audio, Inc_\EL7 FATSO Sr"). Not a big deal to do manually.

2-Here the problem is that any older *.vstpreset presets are vanished inside Cubase from mediabay or the plugin itself because each .vstpreset is having a tag in the header, and which match the "cid" value found into the Vst2xPlugins.xml file. Grrrrrr, a new plugin name mean a new cid, and which mean that any older .vstpreset presets would need to be updated. I tried it using an hex editor and it works (once mediabay uad folder rescanned)!

Btw, why Cubase is not including that feature from the VST windows?? To have the way to give a nickname to our plugs!!?

Anyway, tell me if what I'm saying make sense or not!

    Cheers,
    RW

    Hi RWIL.

Very good point about the presets. Makes perfect sense what you say. It is something I hadn't thought about.

I think I can deal with this but it may be worth considering it for a while. If there was any way we could make this tool more useful for other plugins as well as solely UAD. As usual, I will have a look at this in more detail when time permits.

Please feel free to continue adding any suggestions and comments.

You can. Open up the VSTPlugins folder and you can organize all your plugins.

BTW, thanks for this Phil. Now I don't have to do this manually anymore.

    To the moderators:

Is this really not worth a sticky? I keep getting poeple asking where this is located. Same as the other tool.

This is not for my benefit at all (except that it will save me replying every time), it is for the poeple trying to find it.

    Thanks.
