I would hold off purchasing ANYTHING from UA until they come clean on their solution for multicore CPUs on Vista/Win 7 with specific hosts (especially Steinberg). I believe you are in the clear with Reaper....but do some checking before you commit that cash outlay...Kara said:Win 7 64
i7
8GB Ram
HDSP 9632/Lavry DA11
UAD-1pcie which I own.
With two UAD2 Quad's (which I want to buy)
Using Reaper and or Live 7/8.
So one UAD1 with two UAD2 Quads.
Thanks
The UAD-2 doesn't work properly in XP either unless multi processing is unchecked in the VST settings page. At least this is the case with me, but I thought this was a universal problem.Vocalpoint said:For many of us (Steinberg) the UAD-2 does not work properly with anything but good ole XP.
You must have something else going on then. My rig has all the usual suspects turned on - especially Multi-Processing and nary a pop, click or any issues whatsoever.Funky D said:The UAD-2 doesn't work properly in XP either unless multi processing is unchecked in the VST settings page. Yep...most likely because of your host. Sonar seems to work okay....any Steiny host is a deathwish....cheerful hamster said:The setup in my sig is working fine.
Yes i agree,, its a Steiny/UAudio thing.. I've have been testing Sonar 8. and its works pretty good so far with my NEW i7 64bit Win 7, with DM4800 tascam. whats impressive also is the minimal CPU use in Sonar 8 w/internal plugs and the UAD cards. My concern is the time of LEARNING a new host program. I've been with Steinberg forever and really Love the product. But the UAD stuff is the bomb! The UADs are an important part of the studios goodies. can't live without.. I really don't want to do the multi computer thing via system link/or other programs. whats the point of building a multi cord 3.2 win 7 powerhouse?? anyway just venting.cheerful hamster said:The setup in my sig is working fine.
Well...that pretty much confirms that it's a STEINBERG ONLY thing and not even a UA and certainly not a Microsoft /Vista/7 thing anymore. If Sonar can co-exist correctly on these OS's with the current UA driver - then it stands to reason that the driver is sound. And the fact that the current driver works great on XP as well....and here I was thinking UA had more work to do....inphazeaudio said:I've have been testing Sonar 8. and its works pretty good so far with my NEW i7 64bit Win 7, with DM4800 tascam. whats impressive also is the minimal CPU use in Sonar 8 w/internal plugs and the UAD cards.
Well that's odd, I could have sworn I was having issues in XP, but I just tested and it works fine with multi-processing enabled (spikes with it disabled, however). I thought it was the other way around, but I've been doing a lot of switching and testing between XP and Win7 so I must have gotten confused! Sorry for the mixup #-oVocalpoint said:You must have something else going on then. Works fine here as long as I have at least one plugin loaded on my UAD-1.Vocalpoint said:Yep...most likely because of your host. Sonar seems to work okay....any Steiny host is a deathwish....cheerful hamster said:The setup in my sig is working fine.

That is most interesting and sorta solves an oddball observation seen from the Cubase forums...a user there claims he is having no issues with his UAD-2 - but also has a UAD-1 in his sig...Lord Snarebottom said:Works fine here as long as I have at least one plugin loaded on my UAD-1.

On which machine? You have one listed with a UAD-2 and another without....bysbox001 said:Yep . . . Setup in my rig runs fine as well. Sonar, Reaper, Ableton, Sound Forge run fine. The issues are with Steinberg only.
I have run them on both machines. I now run the my DAWs with UAD2 only. My second machine is more of a side car/overflow workstation that I use for heavy samples, VSTi's that are not in 64bit or hog a lot of CPU, and my Arturia stuff. I use FX Teleport with the UAD-1's and it works like a charm. I had Cubase a very long time ago, but I never liked the workflow and after reading in forums about some of the issues users have with it, I abandoned it and strictly use Sonar, Ableton, and Reaper.Vocalpoint said:On which machine?
