I tried the Culture Vulture on some acoustic recordings I have been working on and have been very happy with the results.

Cello and hang (it's like an inverted steel drum) I'm throwing it on the master bus with the Drive set to about 5-6 and all other settings at default then reducing the output level to match the original. I love it. Everything gets warmer and way bigger. One of those effects that you don't notice until you take it away. The producer I'm working with is super happy with the sound space it created. Exactly what he was looking for and didn't even know it till he heard it.

It's the kind of plugin I love. Immediate results with a minimum of fiddling.

I am demoing this now. So far, I like the varieties of distortion available. I especially like the "T" subtle tube distortion to warm up guitar sims... makes them sound more authentic to my ears, and removes some of the harshness that guitar plugins seem plagued by. One thing that I don't like, however, is the user interface... it feels a bit small and cramped... the toggle switches are puny, and the makeup gain knob is a bit small, which makes the whole affair feel fiddly. Sound is the key, and I think this plug sounds good...but with a distortion unit, which begs to be tweaked for sound sculpting purposes, a better UI enhances the creative process of sound design. I think some of this is just the nature of the CV hardware unit's layout, but I think UA could have done a better job of making the individual UI elements (switches, etc) more life like. This is just my opinion, you may feel differently.

If you had one of the pre UAD-2 cards (were they called UAD-2) it wouldn't work.

Would think it would work in an Apollo or a Satellite too.
