I'm coming from experience and using both side by side every day.
I don't think there's a better place to come from than owning and running both side by side, is there?

I can also confirm that the one I trust for critical projects is NOT the nMP.

If you read the report, you'll get it I think. A lot of the perceived "flaws" in the new pro are due to apple's desire to increase battery performance. So failing to deliver on that makes it an even worse computer.

Curious why you think it trumps the previous generation. What am I missing?

Why 'we' developers are concerned and ditching Macbook - I'm now aware of a serious returns! I never realised how many who pre-ordered the new macbook are now returning them and going HP.

Maybe different for audio engineers. I'm still trying to find benefits in the new direction and I can't. It's stupid.

I get that the battery is not the end of the world but I think the concerns that peeps have raised about the quality shift at apple with the trashcan ( MAtt H here has had 3 ?) and now this battery problem. Apples were pretty bullet proof in the past so I just think the crown has slipped a little
The progress in design alone is what some find attractive in the new MBP and Consumer reports has given it a recommendation since the fix so to each his own.

Consumer report now recommends the new Macbook Pro. According to Consumer Reports Apple fixed the battery problem with a software update.

"Consumer Reports has now finished retesting the battery life on Apple's new MacBook Pro laptops, and our results show that a software update released by Apple on January 9 fixed problems we’d encountered in earlier testing."
