Actually, they had a pretty good bulletin and heads up and very long thread here about it as well, but that was all about three years ago when this happened. I do think there is more that can be done to raise this awareness, but this is an Apple generated issue at the hardware level. Apple never allows backwards compatibility for reasons unknown. Only trashcans are affected.

    It definitely sucks, though.

The info has been there all along. On the UA site in their Knowledge base is this:

    Attachment 3329

    Followed by: The Explanation

    Which is:

    Attachment 3330

I can't sell the card.... 'not for resale'. And thanks for nothing for reminding me of of the error of my ways. There's always someone with nothing better to do. Lame.

I'd suggest to see if UA will let you swap it for a Satellite. I do think more should be done currently to prevent this kind of scenario (even something as simple as a sticker on the package warning about 2013 nMac Pros).

UA wants happy users and their CS is pretty good.

Unfortunately, there's just no other option with the trashcans.

I agree. The 2013 traschacan is a current model, the UAD-2 Quad is a current model. With regards to expansion chassis, the page I looked at: https://help.uaudio.com/hc/en-us/art...Compatibility- makes no mention that the Quad doesnt work so it's not like I didn't look. As far as I'm concerned I've been shafted. UAD have lost my goodwill when you factor in the ten weeks I had to wait for a card that doesn't work.

It's not just my loss. UAD won't be getting a penny from me when I was about to spend a LOT of money on plug-ins.

Marsdy, we all understand your frustration but please don't insult good people who support our community. We are all just people like you learning as we go, not perfect but trying to be helpful, like Don. I find your comment back to him unwarranted.

I'm with Matt, re-contact CS and explain the situation, they will probably try to assist you. Not certain I want to anymore, as you so easily insult my friends here: think about that why don't you?

He didn't support me, he just exposed failings in UAD's website and hurled a bunch of passive aggressive reasons as to why I had been at fault when in reality I had been misinformed because of the chain of links I followed.

Hey we are trying to be helpful but you are misinterpreting Don's words and intents. The last thing I would characterizes him as is passive aggressive. In fact, he is always only very helpful and has a deep and thorough knowledge of UA, recording and computers.

But lets get back to trying to help you.

So one option is to sell or return the card/satellite and not purchase plugs, in which case the sale prices are irrelevant.

Another option is to register the card on your other computer to take advantage of the bundle prices and Christmas sale while you can and follow up with CS ASAP to see what assistance they can offer you. I just saw an unopened quad satellite tbolt card on reverb.

What attracted you to the UA platform in the first place, as those things are still true. You will get the card sorted out one way or the other, do you really not want to benefit from using UA plugs ??

Hey Marsdy, Wow, I had no idea UA won't let you sell it. I really didn't pay attention to the details of the sale, because I was not buying. Not permitting people to sell it is absurd. I can understand UA wanting a specific time frame, and understand them taking their good old time shipping the free device. Otherwise some people would buy the Apollo, register for the free card (or Satellite or whatever) then after sending in proof of purchase, return the Apollo for money back at their dealer, and keep the free card.

Matt has a good suggestion there with calling UA to see if they will let you swap it for a Satellite, or at least let you return the card for credit towards a Satellite. I have always found UA to be more than reasonable when asking them for help.

Are you here in the States, where you can easily call them on Tuesday?

All but one of you have being very helpful but it's not helpful having it rammed down your throat where you went wrong which is easy to do given UAD's website not to mention it's totally contradictory documentation as mentioned in an earlier post. It's too late to return the card and 4-710d. It wouldn't be if UAD had delivered the card in a timely fashion. I'm going to take a major loss if I sell the 4-710d and card even if I'm allowed to do so.

UAD are widely regarded as making the best plug-in emulations hence the desire to get on board but given the amount of time I wasted just getting the card I was entitled to and the further hassle of getting a system that works I'm inclined to try and get my money back on both.

Yes I could register the card offline and buy the plug-ins but that means I can't demo them and risk not being able to return the card.

Seeing to the fact that the card just arrived today, UA may meet you half way - or hopefully even better. It took me a long time before I figured out that a question not asked is always a "No" answer.

I didn't intend to rag at you. Others had pointed out where some of the information was on the site, and I came across some more. It was not meant as a personal dig. I'm sorry it came out that way.
