I can understand UA wanting a specific time frame, and understand them taking their good old time shipping the free device. Otherwise some people would buy the Apollo, register for the free card (or Satellite or whatever) then after sending in proof of purchase, return the Apollo for money back at their dealer, and keep the free card.

Matt has a good suggestion there with calling UA to see if they will let you swap it for a Satellite, or at least let you return the card for credit towards a Satellite. I have always found UA to be more than reasonable when asking them for help.

Are you here in the States, where you can easily call them on Tuesday?

Don. No I'm in the U.K. The box the card came in has a sticker on it that says "not for resale." Either way if I sell the 4-710d and the card I'm going to make a significant loss. After paying back the VAT I'd be surprised if I made half my money back. Then there's the hassle of transfer of ownership.

Edit: And I'm yet to open a single plug-in

I really think it's down to UAD to do the right thing here. The page I linked to says the Sonnet chassis is compatible, if you dig deeper and follow a small print link it turns out the Quad card isn't compatible but as I say, it's in the small print and easty to miss. Given the hassle of even getting hold of a card after numerous less than helpful emails I wish I'd spent my money elsewhere or at least been provided with the information about compatibility when you choose the format of DSP processor.

Marsdy, can you clarify who has stated the card is not for resale ? I have never heard of that before. The card is a physical thing not software and it is your property and in your possession now so I don't believe anyone can prevent you from selling it if you want to.

If you buy plug ins they to are yours and not attached to the card but they are attached to your ua account. If you sell the card only the classics bundle that came with it goes with it. The plugs you bought stay in your account unless you tell UA to transfer them with the transfer of the ownership of the card.

I know its frustrating but I am hopeful that UA CS will help you out.

And unfortunately Gannon from UA, who does check-in here, is on holiday all this week. Okay, another email to UA's CS. I suspect they answer them in the order the emails arrive, and after Christmas, they will be swamped with help requests. So perhaps an email sent in now, will get answered first, before all the after Christmas support tickets that come in on Tuesday.

Hmmmm, I wonder if it is your local audio dealer who put the "Not For Resale" sticker on the box, because the local audio dealer would not want these cards being sold to compete with the UAD cards his store sells.

And if you have not used UAD-2 plug-ins before this, I would think UA would want to get you using their extremely addictive plug-ins, so they can sell more and more and more to you.

Hey I think I just realized your out, that not for resale sticker means that the retailer was not supposed to sell it, not that you are not to sell it. Sounds like they ran out of cards so sent you that and that explains the delay.

I would ask CS to clarify that and why if it is marked not for resale are you supposed to accept it ? Then discuss your other problem and needing the tbolt card and missing the sale.

Sounds and Smells like Guitar Center! They screwed a lot of people back in the Creamware Scope days the same way. Uncle E would remember this one

Who's going to buy a card with a not for resale sticker on it though? But I take your point and will check with CS. I have a feeling I'm screwed though. But then UAD have lost the $2000 I was going to spend on plug-ins in the sale.

    Everybody loses.

Its your card, take it off, it is meaningless to the performance of the card

But bottom line, no one should have sold/provded you with that card in the first place and that is not your mistake !

What interface are you using ?

I'm concerned the serial number of the card might be linked to the 4-710d bundle and a buyer might not be able to register it. Need to check that with CS. I hope they are open between Christmas and New Year!

I know it didn't cost me anything except I don't think I would've brought the 4-710d had it not been for the free card.

    I'm using an Avid HDX1 and HD I/O 16x16

Understandable but I doubt that will be the case.

UA's cards are all independent of the other equipment in your account/system(s) and that is why they are all registered distinctly and then managed independently, for example, when you sell.

You could sell the 4-710d today and it wouldn't have anything to do with the card. You don't even need to tell UA for non interface OB other than to keep your system info up to date.

I don't see Christmas hours posted on the UA site.
