    First off, Thank you matt for taking the time to do this test for us. It is really appreciated!
    It's so hard to conduct a test like this given so many option not knowing which is the standard to compare. In my experience I am going to take a guess that the original 1073 is D or A. D was darker sounding than the rest and A was the second darkest. They sounded very similar to one another especially in the midrange area.. C was the thinnest and most unappealing in comparison. B was a mixture of C and D.

    So my guess is as follows
    A=Heritage
    B=1073 LB
    c=Unison
    D=vintage 1073

    Let me also say this, in a mix, I honestly don't think I'd be able to tell the difference between these.

    My guess would be:

    A. Vintage 1073
    B. 1073 LB
    C. Heritage
    D. Unison

    B Would be the only difference i would perhaps hear in a mix. Depending on the amount of sounds I think

    quick listening
    the 4 are really close sounding to my ears and I must admit I can't point to the black sheep at my first listening
    The shiniest - by far - is the D : so I suppose D is Unison
    A and C are sounding the most identical : so I suppose they are "the real " Vintage 1073 and the Heritage
    B should be 1073 LB ?

    I must admit that I don't know the units at all. So it's a wild guess. But my experience with old gear, makes me pick this list.

    I know what I am hearing with my high-end audio equipment. Makes me think I won't hear too much of the difference when the mix is glued, except for B, as mentioned. But by all means, I am not an expert, nor a master magician (i'm just starting out)

    Some of these comments will be quite interesting in context with the results!

    Can you attempt to quantify shiniest?

    Acoustic Guitar (finger picking Tacoma JK50C):

    - Did you record all on/with/whatever (in) Unison or inserts plugin as waves are identical.
    - Very difficult to tell apart
    - After reading the comments I think A sound's nicest, I put that down to influence

    Importing into DAW and taking a look the waveform tells me either all were recorded using Unison or none. Because? They all look identical... or else I have something wrong with eyesight lol.

    Apart from the nice little melody they all sound good.

    Now listening to them again, yea, they all sound good and all are very usable. The difference is very small.

    At 1st A, but - and if it takes you to really listen then yea, you're right you wouldn't notice in a mix - but after close listening D, when you get to the end, the little strum, There is more depth/low to it than the others. To my ears.

    I could be deaf.

    guitar picking

    A, B, D = hardware
    C= Unison because there is something very right in the low.
