Keyboard short cuts for Console volume control

This is to answer an earlier post

Key commands that seem to work in the console are:

Command + f10 = mute
Command + f11 = Volume down
Command + f10 = Volume up

There may be more, but this is all I have found. So if you have a powermate or the like you can prob set up a remote volume knob.

Are these the same for mac? Because I can't get them to work.
You have to go into System Preferences --> Keyboard --> and check the box "Use all F1, F2 etc. keys as standard function keys"

Worked for me in Lion when I did that

I'm on a macbook pro and these shortcuts aren't working for me. I just get the osx volume icon graphic that normally appears when changing the volume, except the volume bar is crossed out (this is usually the case with most audio interfaces i've used, except for Apogee stuff).

and then make sure you hold command and select F10 for mute, F11 for volume down and F12 for up

Hmm. I am not sure, but I don't think so! You'll get used to it :)

It would be tremendous to be able to program shortcuts to mute and un-mute specific channels in the Console. I work in a small project studio, so I have to mute and unmute the channel every time I switch between headphones and monitor playback. And if I fail to do so I'm reminded with some nice feedback.

This is a huge part of my workflow and causes a lot of wasted time and mental engery.

Shortcuts

Is there a list of all keyboard shortcuts for Console?

And is it MAC only?

From the UAD2 Software manual, page 44. Sorry for pasting it in png format, but I couldn´t find an easy way to paste table data from PDF. I´m a sound geek, not a designer :p

Tamtataaa...I think I found your solution, or at least a step in the right direction. I have managed to get my Apple Remote working with volume and mute functions. I have a 2014 Macbook Pro that doesn´t have an IR receiver, so I have to use IR via USB, which is the reason that I had to use a third party driver/app to accomplish this - otherwise I would have used only Applescript.

The app I used is called Remote Buddy, and as soon as I figured out the global hotkeys (cmd + F10-F12, mentioned earlier in this thread), it was easy to map to the Apple remote via their "Behaviour construction kit".

I made a quick video to demonstrate.

This could easily be accomplished with Automator or Applescript as well. My next mission is to figure out how to make a visual indicator (like the internal osx speakers volume overlay via media keys), so far no luck.
Remote Buddy key mappings

edit: Truth be told, I realize this thread was about KEYBOARD shortcuts, but I thought it would be even handier to use a remote control (or a midi-keyboard for that matter) now that we sorted out the shortcut bit :)

meech, i struggled with the same thing. i am very surprised such a simple thing is so hard. I did find a tool that swaps the keys so that the normal keyboard volume and mute controls work. it can be found here for free: http://addisonsw.com/#products

it worked for me, i hope that helps.

This is great thank you! you can still use the icon functions on those keys also, providing you press the fn key at the same time (in the left hand corner), shortcuts, lovin' em'
