ATTENTION: Regarding Windows Apollo Threads...

There are many, many, negative threads floating around about Windows Apollo support.

Your frustration is not necessarily unfounded and UA is extremely aware of the concerns, since Windows users are half of all UAD users.

However, the General, Apollo, and even Support forums are not the place for those threads. Please be aware that all Windows Apollo thunderbolt complaint threads will be moved to the Unrest forum, where it IS completely appropriate to voice all your concerns and frustration.

This is necessary because the signal to noise ratio is just way too high for the main purpose of this forum—helping and learning from others about becoming better engineers and producers through UAD plugins.

We need to keep more order to the forum so it's not a sounding board for negativity, but rather be the community it is.

Thank you for your understanding.

wow censorship to the fullest... why is UA afraid or people speaking the truth where they want to hide it in the "crazy jilted customer thread"??? Seems like sore spots are being hit.... interesting....

UA has nothing to do with this. It it user created and funded. Matt created this forum for the reasons he mentioned above and the community is here to help each other share in sound and music with some troubleshooting when you hit a wall!

Peace

This isn't censorship, he just moved it to Unrest, you can still view it if you want. I personally look forward to reading this forum and I gotta say lately its become very annoying to come here and the only thing I read is about people that can't use Tbolt Apollos on Windows!
Soon with the learning and sharing!!

Peace and great recording for everyone!

Agreed... what censorship? Part of the privilege of being on Matt's board is following Matt's rules. Like Hoenerbr said, we come here to learn and share. And if you want to bitch about something, there's a soapbox for it... just not in the centre of the town's square.

Again, I will say it's time to talk music, recording, mixing and... plug-ins.

I can't speak for anyone else but I certainly have been grateful for finding this place after suddenly (and rather unexpectedly) becoming a new UA customer.

How can it be censorship if it is still viewable and you can still contribute, but just in the correct place within the forum? Censorship would be total removal, or editing without the posters consent.

In my day job I am heavily involved in the design of industrial level acquisition systems that have both analogue and digital components (I hold 6 patents in this space). They have may similarities to the systems that UA manufacture, but operate at much higher sampling frequencies (1 Ghz). I use Windows operating systems (Windows Server) to run these system. There were just some blatantly incorrect assumptions being posted and I attempted to participate in some of the forums and offer guidance from a position of understanding the design of the equipment and how Windows operates, and tried to pass this knowledge to the forums. I considered that I was trolled by other participants and I stopped participating. Let it live in the Unrest area!

@eaygee good that the coin finally dropped :) if you hang around, hope you do, you'll notice something: you'll get to know the solid contributors who recognize that we have differences but who value and support Matt's ua community for its inclusiveness and openess, then every once in an while a very opinionated poster blows into town, typically one issue, contributes little if anything and screws off. The sooner the better I feel if they are not really helping the community.

This has served to strengthen the community I feel, as a lot of us realized how much real love stopping in here and how much great info is free shared. It truly is a great forum :)

That was a good move. And great timing by Dan to close the other thread. This is an Apollo section of the forum and it was being hijacked by someone who doesn't own an Apollo. I think most of us are sympathetic to the unrest in the Windows camp. And I think most of us are open to legitimate concerns from genuine users like Eagee. The Unrest section is the perfect place for these concerns. Now this section can get back to being an Apollo section for Windows and Mac without the drama.

No apology necessary!

There is simply a better place for things that irk us. Those things DO have to be discussed—they affect so many of us (not just Windows users, but all Mac Pro and non-TB Macs as well)—just discussed in the appropriate forum.

The Unrest forum is the forum the threads should have been posted in in the first place. It is completely open, fully publicly visible, and shows in the Activity Feed just the same as every other forum.

We are very careful not to engage in censoring anything posted by legitimate users, with exception of personal attacks.

Whoa, UA doesn't subsidize the forum?

May Matt be the recipient of Monies to fund his projects and desires!!!!
