Hi
I would like to buy this mixer, Presonus StudioLive 24.4.2 Ai
https://www.thomann.de/gb/presonus_studiolive_2442_ai.htm?ref=search_prv_10

but I really love the UA Apollo Duo interface and console I have, I am used to it and would like to record to my DAW (Logic) with it, then use the Mixer for mixing. would I then start using the Presonus interface??
Or can I use the Apollo? which way do I do this!? confused:eek:

Ummm. I thought those mixers only worked as controllers for Studio One. Will it work to control logic?

Anyway, There's no reason you can't continue using Apollo as an interface and something else as a controler. Or even switch to something else as interface while mixing; as long as Apollo is still connected it can run plugins in your DAW.

That mixer doesn't have motorized faders. I wouldn't want to mix on that...

I would use the Apollo as your recording interface. It has many advantages over the Presonus. However, you can use the Presonus as a summing mixer if you like. If I recall, it doesn't have motorized faders so it would be hands on but doable.

As has been mentioned, these mixers do not have motorized faders, and are not meant to be used for mixing.... except in "live" mixing situations (stage). It would be an unbelievable nightmare to try and mix a recording with this product.

The only one Presonus makes with motorized faders and mixing-of-recorded-material in mind is the CS18AI - which is around $1500 - and, honestly, you can find a lot better controllers for that kind of money.

I would hold off at least until the release of the new Studiolive 32 mixer. I believe it has motorized faders and should be at a close price point to the 24-ch. AI.
