I had actually thought about that afterwards, considering the fact we can use the FireWire drivers with Thunderbolt already. May not be officially 'supported' but 'not 'supported' doesn't always equal noncompatible, as we have already discovered 😉
Hey guys,

Windows 10 64-bit with the Anniversary Update is required for UAD-2 and Apollo support on Windows.

We are officially supporting only Thunderbolt 3 USB-C type connection with Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 1/2 adapter. Both TB 1 and TB 2 cards for Apollo are compatible.

Computers with TB 1/2 ports are not tested or going to be supported, but we have seen some of them 'just work'.

We'll have complete compatibility and supported configuration info up next week at launch, so stay tuned!

Hmmm, we don't yet know which adapters will be compatible, maybe this one:

https://www.startech.com/Cables/thu...rbolt-3-usb-c-thunderbolt-adapter~TBT3TBTADAP

and the price for the same gadget is better here:

Thanks, Don -

Yes, the Startech is one of the ones we support. I think the other one is the Kanex, but I'll have to confirm that.

I think they're actually the same device with different silkscreen. ;)

This is great news! Since I've been using an unsupported FW over TB configuration for 2 years now I hope I can switch over to the UA TB driver and just keep on ticking. That would be awesome!

I'm going to read into that, that trashcan macs in bootcamp will "just work" as they are from the "just work" family ;)

oh man i was so close to having this work on Win 7 for a brief moment. Successfully updated firmware, everything wanted to work. But alas, no audio device shown.
at the very last hurdle despite every other part working. it just wont recognise the apollo as the audio unit.

back too 8.3 and TB over firewire. i didnt expect it to get half as close as this, it restarted and looked like all was well. better luck for me next time.

Thunderbolt 2 working flawlessly on ASUS Z97-A, Thunderbolt EX Card, Win 10 Anniversary. I am running 2x apollo duo silver (Both W/TB2 option card) and a Thunderbolt satellite QUAD.

Only 1 apollo has full IO function (as stated in the official release note) However, all DSP's are available and the system detects everything. Super stable and smooth!

My configuration is working TB1 (Apollo) to TB2 (PC). See my signature for details.

I find under windows 7 it won't work for computer sound but it does work for your DAW.. My solution I hooked up another audio card(box) for computer sounds (itunes internet, etc) and then just using the apollo for Nuendo....

yeah its just not having any part of it this end. like i said, under win 7, i wasnt even expecting it to work to be fair. it just went a lot further along the install process than normal so it looked optimistic.
it literally doesnt recognise the apollo has been connected so it will not compete the driver install under uad 9

im still not prepared to spend a whole weekend installing win 10. i really am so happy under win 7. i know quite a few people have had better luck than i getting things to work. having tried a trillion variations, im going to stick with uad 8,3 and something that works. even if it means i have to miss out on the new fancy console and plugs.

im win7 and you are win 10, so fundamentally i dont think i can compare due to two completely different OS systems.

Did you install the thunderbolt driver from Asus? You still have to have that installed for it to work. (my thunderbolt is onboard so that might be the difference too)

Then it more than likely is the fact that my Thunderbolt is onboard. I have this running on a ASUS Z87-DELUXE/QUAD, I also have a Z-97-Deluxe that has the Thunderbolt II card as well. If get the time this weekend I'll try it this weekend to see if it does work and let you know.

No need to do that. The tbexII card works exactly the same as you described (on my system). The problem rbmusic is having is caused by something else.

The same thing happened in windows 7 and 10 for me so it is the same hardware detection (or lack thereof) issue with the audio driver installation. Console 2 looked pretty nice for a bit there so I will probably give it another go at some point.
This is the first time I've seen the "connecting to Apollo" splash screen and it does connect but then the audio device doesn't appear in device manager. For now I'm back to 8.3 / 8.7 firewire over thunderbolt.

Matt it wont work with the computer audio but it wil work with your DAW and I just hooked another audio box for the computer audio... but far as working with nuendo works ok.

Yeah thanks for the heads up I am going to test some more for sure, I just need to think about it and come up with something that works with my setup - cheers
