Linked Apollo 16 Adat channels?

Hello all,

After years with Apogee (still a great company) I have moved over to UA. I love my Apollo Quad and what it does for my system and setup. I've searched the forum and I'm pretty sure I know the answer is "Yes" but just to verify... By linking Two Apollo's my Adat counts will also double, yes?

I'd like to add another Audient ASP 880 to my current setup which should give me 16 Pre's dedicated to drums via Adat and give me 8 mic pres via 2 Apollo's. Along with 8 line in's.

Is this theory only or will linking two Apollos actually allow me to double up on everything?

Thank you very much

Uh, nope. Sorry.

I think the op knew the answer but couched the question to emphasize the absurdity of the ADAT limitation.

Sadly, one set of ADAT connections is used exclusively to monitor from the Apollo expander to the primary Apollo. Available ADAT = 8. Two Apollos is only 24 inputs and outputs, not 32.

Probably not a simple fix on UA's side, but the obvious solution would be to enable the second set of ADAT I/O each Apollo has to function as a second set of ADAT I/O, rather than used exclusively for S/MUX, which is not used by many users.

Well, I have to admit that one Adat usage with two Apollo systems doesn't seem at all logical, and I am very surprised to hear the answer is a negative. But. It did just help me keep $2K bucks in my pocket.

Oh well.

Thanks

UA is working on a more advanced multiple device setup. Gannon may have more info. Don't count them out, but don't buy based on features that don't yet exist, either.

Indeed. So far I'm loving the Apollo. I've had my eyes on it for a while and finally purchased it. Between the plugins and the onboard processing the lack of usable additional Adats isn't a deal breaker. But I was honestly considering purchasing a dual core to add to my quad but moreso just because I was looking up the road bit.

Thanks.
