Neve 88RS vs. API Vision

I'm going to pick one of these preamps. I know they both are different flavors and uses, but if you were tight on the money front and had to choose one all-purpose plug-in for unison preamps, which one would be your workhorse to complement your UA 610?

I'm on Apollo Twin Duo.

Thanks for the insight.

Neve 1073 :)

Why so? Isn't it more practical from an all-purpose standpoint to consider the the 88RS as it offers a whole channel strip solution? I know the 1973 is a highly regarded pre, but is it a lot higher quality than the 88RS?

I think you need to consider how much DSP you have available.

They both sound good, different from each other, but good. But API Vision uses a ton less DSP per instance.
So if your Apollo is Duo, I recommend API Vision.
If you have a Quad, demo them both and buy the one you prefer.

The 1073 is obviously a silly answer, since it's not a full channel strip like the others.

Yes, from a cost point of view, it makes sense to look at the channel strips. Even without taking that into regard, many people consider the 88RS MKII to be the very best Unison preamp available. I say get the 88RS MKII over the API Vision for now (and then get the Vision later because it's also a must-have).

My apologies to anybody who's feeling hurt by my " indeed " silly answer :)
In my brain, that was just a joky way to say : "too much good choice .... and don't forget the Neve 1073 even it's not a channel strip "
my bad ;)

Thank you all. I bought the Neve. I loved it more.
