Apollo Twin Duo USB + Satellite Octo USB = Great combo!

As a very happy Apollo Twin Duo USB user, I recently decided to add the brand new Satellite Octo USB to my system. I connected the Satellite to an on-board USB 3.0 port (intel powered), installed the latest UAD software and suddenly I had 8 more DSP's available. I opened a project and added more and more UAD plugins and it made me realize that, in normal use, I probably will not max out my UAD system anytime soon. Finally I can simply add another API Vision or API EQ, or an extra 1176AE without fear that I will get a warning that I run out of DSP. It's been rock solid during my stress tests and I look forward using more of my beloved UAD plugins in my future projects. :)

Are there more people here that got the Satellite USB, or are considering getting one?

I'm on a Mac so I have the thunderbolt ones, but I have a Twin Duo and an Octo and love it! Same setup Scheps uses when he's on the road. So no more excuses for me!

I recently added a Satellite Octo USB to my Apollo Twin USB. Connected it to the second port of the USB 3.0 pair that my Twin USB is attached to. The Twin/Satellite USB combo has been working flawlessly. My Win 10 x64 DAW rig currently has the Twin/Satellite USB combo and (2) UAD-2 PCIe cards working as one cohesive integrated DSP farm (total of 15 DSP's). Probably more DSP than I will ever need, but I am not complaining. :)

Cheers,

Good to hear you enjoy your setup too! The thing is, if somebody told me 6 months (or something) ago that I would make the switch to UAD USB devices (I sold my UAD-2 cards to help finance my new goodies) I probably wouldn't believed it. But here we are, suddenly all my UAD plugins are run by my Twin USB and Octo USB and it runs as rock solid as it did before with my UAD-2 PCIe cards! Well, the big difference is that I used to have 4 DSP's and now I have 10 of them. Oh yeah! :p

And I almost forgot, I can use my Twin + Satellite with my laptop too! It feels good to be able to bring my favorite UAD plugins with me on the road! I guess there are no more excuses for me either! ;)

That sounds awesome, Billy! As it looks now, 10 DSP's seem to be enough for me, but who knows for how long.

Is the octo satellite with complementary plugins offer still standing? That was a swell offer.

I know I love the setup. And on my laptop it makes for an amazing portable setup. I got a small pelican case that they both can go in as well as the power and thunderbolt cables. So if I have that case with my laptop bag, I'm ready to rock! Never been happier with my setup... And I've had a lot!

I now have the same setup as Solidtrax, as my Sattelite Octo USB arrived earlier this week. I have the same experience as well, it's rock solid and it integrates all my available DSP perfectly! (Twin Duo, Octo USB, PCIe Duo) I probably sell of my Duo card as it feels like 10 DSP is enough for me right now, and I'm pretty much broke now so could use some extra cash, haha.

I didn't have that promo with the satellite unfortunately, it ended the end of March if I'm not mistaken, and I pre-ordered the satellite way past that time.
