Need Satellite Help Please

Hello. Hopefully you can help me. My studio has been closed and completely powered down since Sept 6, due to Hurricanes Irma and Maria.

Today, upon booting up my system, my UA Octo TB Satellite connected to two Apollo 8P’s is flashing a red “Host” light. The two Apollo’s seem to be working properly. Assuming it was the TB cable I disconnected from the system to connect with another TB cable to my laptop (2016 MBP). I am getting the same thing.

Could you please provide any help in determiningwhat could possibly be wrong?

Thank you
Jason.

Hey, so sorry to hear about the hurricane and your power issues. I hope things are getting better in your neck of the woods?

Have you tried hooking up the Octo by itself without the Apollos connected? So just the Octo by itself--one cable into the computer with no Apollos? Just to see if that works. I wasn't sure if that's what you meant or not.

Also, was the system on/running when the power first went out? Just wondering if a power surge or brown out might have nuked it.

Let us know on those, just as a first step. You may need to contact support and they might have more fixes or some kind of reset to try as well.

Good luck!

Thank you. Island is still at only 15% with Power. I have a 8500w generator on my house and studio.

I did hook up the Octo only to the laptop... same issue. Another issue is that I had a HD coming from the 2nd TB port. The Satellite does not send power through it either. Ergo, the HD WILL work directly connected to the laptop, but not daisy chained to the the Satellite.

Lastly. In preparation for the “Storm” I powered everything down a day before the storm actually hit. And didn’t power on anything until today.

Thanks for responding.

Okay,

If it's not passing power to other devices and not connecting regardless of the cable, I almost wonder if it's power supply related in some way. I've had Firewire devices do weird things like that before because they weren't getting quite enough voltage and replacing the power supply fixed it. Maybe someone else here has heard of this issue before, but otherwise I would say it's worth putting in a call to UA support. They are very good and helpful. Hopefully they can get you back up and running. Let us know if you get this figured out.

I know someone who has a business in northeastern Puerto Rico who's going to be rebuilding for the next year or so from the storm. Really tough to hear what so many of the islands are going through right now. I hope you all get the help that is needed more quickly!

I had the same issue.........contact UA, to arrange a RMA. They took good care of me with a fast replacement and great customer service.

I’m hoping for the same. I’ve researched this problem and all the solutions offered have come up nil.

Thank you. It is rough and to be honest, I hooked up my generator to my home and studio to have a little sense of normalcy. It’s a war zone here and my island is much smaller than PR and we got hit twice by both storms. I’m a pastor here and so when I need a rare little “Me Time” I retreat to my studio.
