1073 HiShelf frequency?

Just started the demo on the 1073. I must say it sounds good (and I must also confess that I very rarely can tell any difference between the SE and the \"real\" one).

However, the 12k hi shelf doesn't soud like it starts at 12k to me at all, I think it sounds more like it works from like 2-3k and upwards...

I compared the 1073 to the cambridge, and I got much closer when using Hi Shelf on the cambridge set to something like 4k, as opposed to 12k.

Agreed. When I push other EQ's at 12k it seems to be more airy and doesn't catch as much of the presence boost. I also find the knobs VERY responsive. I usually don't have more than one \"notch\" over on any given dial. I kinda like it :)

Maybe the resonance and Q of the filter are different on other EQ's. Don't forget the \"divot\" and the parasitic capacitance affecting the higher freqs. (modeled, of course)

The hi-shelf/hi-boost section of the 1073 plug-in is a very wide/gentle one. Therefore it does affect lower frequency a bit, like 2~4khz, but the main area of the boosting/shelving IS centered around 12khz.

If you want to compare it with the Cambridge, remember to set the Q very small, so that when you boost 12khz, you see the \"curve\" extended to as low as 2khz.
