1073

Is there any sound improvement / change when all controls are zeroed like with the pultec i.e. cann you just insert it into a channel and it sounds better/different?

thanks
chris

There's a slight drop in the high frequency department - due to upsampling, I guess. Not very prominent and I wouldn't call it sound improvement. That you'll get when turning the knobs on the 1073. :)

i was wondering if the pre-amp knob on the 1073 is making sound (does it make a tube-sound for example) or is it just the same like making the channel on the mixer louder? Then i dont understand where it is for actually.

It is for gain correction that appears due to eq-ing. So you can't get fooled by the "louder is better"-syndrom if you do A/B comparisons. Very useful!
Exactly. The 1073 modeled by UA was operating in its optimum gain range. If they modeled the (solid state) preamp distortion behavior, it would have probably made the plug-in even more cpu-hungry than it is.

Perhaps if enough people express an interest, they might be persuaded to do this for a future version!
