Precision De-Esser $99.00

Precision Maximizer uniquely increases perceived loudness while maintaining peak level control, with little effect to the signal level and without the fatiguing artifacts
Sounds awesome!

I have been comparing the uad maximizer with the waves multimaximizer for an hour now and I am having a hard time to figure out if it is worth to buy it or not ( it takes so much power ! )
It is very efficient for sure but sounds very close to the waves one ...

what do you think ? have you compared it with other maximizers ?

NB: i might change my mind in a couple of hours ... let s see

:x

Why does UAD always release new stuff right after I spent my voucher on something else ? Last time it took them 2 days to come up with something new and this time it's even worse. I was checking last night on the UAD site for any new plugs. Nothing. I've also read somewhere else here, that they unlikely release a new plugin in this voucher period. So I decided to finally make a purchase. Bah. Now just the morning after and whoops there it is...I feel tricked

Well, as usual my demos have already expired.

I wonder if the maximiser has any value other than allow us to continue running in the loudness race? I've already got Inflator; this seems very similar.

After more time using the maximizer I think it is a good plug to have if you don t have already L3 or Inflator ...
I am a huge uad fan but for the first time I am a little disappointed by this update ( this 100dollars coupon needs to be used) ...
To be honest, I prefer the L3 ultramaximizer ...

It s gonna be better next time for me :D

what about you guys ? have you tried it ?

After reading the manual is seems like the Maximiser is extremely similar to Inflator, what with the 50% optimum shape value, with <50>50% = more colouration and distortion. Even has a band-split mode too.

Indeed, it looks very similar on paper. How are they side by side (if you have time to check of course)?

I'm kind of expecting UA's saturation to be better than others, but I don't have Inflator to try it.

I was told something similar, but decided to hold on just in case... I've not had an email yet about these new plugins, I only found out about them via this forum. I have extra choices now on what to buy with my vouchers. hmmmm.

I just compared The Precision Maximizer to Inflator, and Inflator sounds much better on the mixbuss, however... The PM sounds fantastic on bass guitar! I mean REALLY REALLY FANTASTIC!!!

The DeEsser is the best I've tried yet. But I never use DeEssers on vocals... because all they do is suck the life out... I've never heard a voice that actually NEEDED a DeEsser yet. I think people use them only because they \"think they should\". I can understand using them for brodcast stuff, but not for music cd's... unless in some really rare situation the vocalist has overwhelming esses (i've yet to expience this, so far, recording hundreds of vocalists, everything from opera to screamo). But, maybe it's usefull for mastering on rare occations. What I really need is a RE-ESSER, because some vocalists supress the sounds of their S, T, CH, SH, and K sounds too much.

Interesting. Care to elucidate a little as to why the Inflator is better on the mixbuss? Cleaner? Retains highs better? Is the PM 'warmer'?

Sure. (sorry about that)

Basically, Inflator is cleaner. The PM saturates much sooner. I can make the Inflator saturate more if I increase the input more. The saturation from Inflator sounds more like it fills in the gaps and thickens the sounds, while the PM sounds more like a gritty distortion. But that gritty distortion is great on some individual instruments! Like electric bass guitar, electric guitar, some vocals, organ, etc. But over the whole mix it sounds too distorted to me, and not in a good analog way either. Though, I tend to like saturation on bass, guitar, vocals, and keys, but not on drums... I like my drums clean and punchy... but that's my taste.
