My studio audio computer died a few days ago. My friend is trying to fix it right now...he thinks the motherboard or CPU fried...looks like I won't have my computer back in time to try the Helios before the end of the month

How CPU Hungry is it?

With $100 coupon and $51 unused from latest flexipack I just bought it right away even before downloading the new software.

I'm at the end of a mixing session so no upgrade on the WinXP64 right now. I will however try it out on my not correctly working (with UAD-1) WinXP(32-bit) partition and see it fixes anything. A good way to try things without messing up the production environment anyway.

It did'nt take long for me to see it either. One of the sweetest sounds i've heard. I can't afford to buy it now tho but it's ok to listen and dream . So far what i've heard sounded really nice on vocals and whole mix. Given it's character it'll probably sound great on almost anything. UA are really good at eq's, i know any eq they release will be good yet i still get surprized when i demo them.

i tried 8 stereo instances = 86 % on 2 cards with all bands doing some eq

You really canno have too many EQs. Especially when they're as unique as the Helios.

The bass is clear and throbbing and the top end is sweeeeeeeeeeeet!!!

It'd be nice if UA takes some of our past requests & releases a $99 SE version. They couldn't do it with the Neve's for contractual reasons but they've obviously got no such constraints now.

I was actually kinda surprised an SE version was not bundled with the Helios EQ to begin with.

Well at first that is another great job from UA!
Strong personality, I just had time to use it over a clean strat guitar and wouaoh! The only new behavior for me it is when I'm moving the mid gain knob between +10 & +15 db, I'm getting a flangy phasy sound moving medium-fast around there, and also around the bass knob? Maybe because passive (emul hw of course!)...

6 mono, 4 stereo per card @44.1k though think it does upsamling so instance counts likely to remain same at higher rates...haven't tested yet.

not as hungry as Neve but a little more than Pultec Pro...

Have you activated the demo on the Authorizations page of the Performance Meter?

Imagine if a $99 SE version is eventually released, it'd make sense for UA to eventually bundle them together for $249.
