4K Buss Compressor Licence Wanted . Anyone?

Greetings. A couple of things. One, the 4k bus compressor is the same code as the Legacy SSL bus compressor (just ssl branded), which is now replaced by the mkII version.

Second, you can’t sell individual UAD-2 plugins. You can only sell/transfer a whole accounts worth when selling UAD-2/Apollo hardware.

Solution; purchase the SSL MKII Bus Compressor and you will also receive the Legacy version :)

If you have the ssl mkII, then you have the legacy version as well… which is identical to the 4k in all but name!

Hello again. I know you think you are hearing something, but it's just a placebo/bias confirmation. Both the 4K and the Legacy SSL Bus Compressor are identical code (only the fade function was added).

To see this for yourself, load this Pro Tools session I created (see image for result).

The Source track has a signal generator on it set to 250Hz (since you said the 4K has more low mids. You can even get a 100% null with Pink Noise). The Source track is sent to two auxes at once. The first aux has the Legacy SSL and the second aux has the 4K version. Both are set to the default preset.

Each aux has a Trim plugin after the comp and the polarity is inverted on one of the Trims. They null below -144dBfs, thus 100% and shows that they are identical code.

Believe me, I have fallen victim to this numerous times in the past myself, but a null test exposes all!!!

No shame in it. It happens to all of us. I was ready to die on the hill that the Curve Bender sounded different with the channels unlinked 🤦

Pleasure. Glad I could help. Now don't spend ALL your time null testing ;)

I just found this plugin yesterday. HOFS Blind Test I also personally know that I have an extreme bias to some plugins so I wanted to give this a try. Haven’t had a chance to check it out yet though…. I mean if the plugin look super cool it must sound better then the plain looking one right???

take one TB3 cable and one TB4 cable and put them side by side. Then switch the end of one. If the TB4 cable is longer in both cases then it does not matter. If the TB3 is it doesn’t matter… come to think of it, if they are the same length it does not matter either…

Pre TB3 implies you have a TB2 Octo in which case you would need a Thunderbolt adapter along with a TB3/4 cable.

So i am using thunder 2 now with converter but i want to use the USB-C/Thunder4 port with the TB3, i edit and master in the box (next to Postprod in studio Ads, Docu films Band recordings ) for big festivals in the studio or on location with or without video registration with these so the faster the render the better :)

Then do as mentioned above and pick a up TB3/4 cable and hook in your TB3 sat. You can use your current adapter and TB2 cable to daisy chain your other sat.
