A question about the Unison Slot versus the Insert Slot.

I was playing around today with my Fender Tweed Plugin, and I noticed when it was in the Unison Slot, I really liked how clean/good it sounded adjusted the way I had it set, but when I drug it down to an Insert Slot, it was now much more distorted sounding.

As there was no other plugin in any Insert Slot, what causes the dramatic difference in the sound of the Fender Plugin between the two Slots?

Your input level and impedance on the hardware is coupled to the plugin when it's in the Unison slot. Pretty nifty!

The default Apollo pre is adding 10db of gain at it's minimum setting so you're pushing into the front 10db hotter (In addition to the impedance).

I want to use the Tube Screamer Unison Plugin with the Tweed Plugin, so which one (or any Unison Plugin for that matter) determines which is placed in the only Unison Slot that is available?

That's a good question. I have not actually tried doing a virtual pedal >>>> amp thing in console. Doesn't seem like it'd be a problem, as long as you get the level going out of the Screamer and into the tweed where you want it.

Engage the pad and then turn it up 10db (I think it’s a 20db pad).

Use them exactly as you would in a 'real-world' studio = Tube Screamer Pedal (in Unison) -->> Fender Tweed Amp.
