Advice/Suggestions Needed

Hi there,

Im looking into getting a new computer system and need some advice. Ive been running p4 3.2 gig, 2gig ram 200 gb HD x2, Asus P4p800 etc, for the last two years. I have insalled 3 UAD 1s and firewire card connected to a Poco Rack and Compact. My soundcard is RME DIGI 96/52.
Ive had no problems whatsoever with this setup and have pushed it to the max in terms of DSP.

But now after buying some new softsynths & FX (korg legacy, rob papen blue synth amongst others) and waves i-r1 im using a lot more native CPU and really need more power in this area.

Has anyone got any suggestions on how i can transfer all of the above hardwaer into a newer more powerful system?? Im noticing that mobos now are getting few PCI slots so ho can i get arround this with out losing any UAD Power.

Any specific recomendations eg, mobos and systems would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance

Hi Ged,

You really are quite lucky to be working so successfully with the firewire Powercore units, that alone makes me wonder if it might just be better to stick with your current system & FX Teleport a second system to get the extra native power. However, the stability probably has more to do with the firewire card than with the motherboard so maybe it won't be a problem for you to upgrade.

The Gigabyte GA-M55plus-S3G seemed to work really well for me during the brief time I tested it with UAD-1's. It has a very decent Nvidia 6100 video card built-in so it effectively provides 7 free slots (4 PCI + 3 PCIe).

Asrock has been noted to having lots of PCI slots. They're not a top tier company though.
