Was anyone ever able to build an AMD 7950x pc without compatibility issues with their Twin X Thunderbolt ?
If so, what were the parts used ?
Thanks

AMD CPUs have never been an option for Apple Mac computers. 😉

They are if making Hackintosh. The original poster was asking about non-Macs, using geenric term 'pc' which was kinda self evident. (maybe you were jesting?)

To the OP, I would probably stick with Intel for PC using UAD. I have 10th gen Intel NUC i5 that works just fine with its onboard TB3 ports. While I prefer AMD for my daily business PCs - quieter, half the watts, less cooling needed, etc. -- for music/studio stuff we stick with Intel and Mac M.

thanks Neo.

So if I have to go with intel, I have my eyes on the new minisforum ms-01 with a i9 13900k. The motherboard only has 2 x TB4 slot. No TB3.

do you know if that was reported as an issue with Apollo TB compatibility?

TB4 is essentially same as Tb3 on intel when it comes to UAD.

You can also add more TB3/4 ports with a 'dock' from OWC/Macsales

There's already 2x TB4 port on that mini pc and I really only need one for the Twin-X.

I just hope I wont have any more problem as I'm constantly having some pop and clicks when recording but figured out the output issues. I just need to constantly (every 2-3hrs) restart my Twin-X and the output pops and clicks stop. I need that little machine to let me record music. That's the main goal of all this.

1. Are the latest gen AMD CPUs competitive with Mac Silicon chips or even 13th gen Intel I7?
2. Has AMD finally integrated thunderbolt into its mobile chipsets?
