Any chance UA will change Spark authorization to computer based?

I've had it with the iLok authorization that has to have 3 things happen at the same time for my session to not crumble:
  1. Web connection. Mostly not an issue, but sometimes this gets funky.
  2. UA Connect not acting up. It just does. Both PC and Mac. It's buggy software at best.
  3. iLok syncing with UA Connect, or however that works. That gets hairy.
I've had enough issues with all of this that I'm moving on. I now have a lightning fast computer and have no need for UA hardware, so I'm selling it. The only thing that would keep me from selling the plugins also would be if Spark had a smoother one-time-per computer authorization (like almost all other software in 2024).

And no, I don't want to drag around a dongle.

I don't know what you're trying to protect by making us authorize every time we boot up, UA. Your plugins are wonderful and for so long the cream of the crop, but those days are long gone. I have so many other good options now...

I'm hoping for iLok USB!

I believe you can already do that. Not an option for me.

I agree completely with OP. I’ve stopped using UA plugs because of this. Luckily there are many companies with just as good software that have a modern license system with zero hassle.

They have to change their system, no UAconnect, no iLok, if they want UAD native to remain competitive.

Thanks for chiming in. I’ve been going back and forth the last couple days of whether to bundle the software or keep it and hope machine authorization comes to fruition sometime in the near future. I’ll get a fraction of their value if I bundle them, so if there’s a fighting chance that machine authorization is coming, I’d lean towards keeping them.
