Next computer. Need plain PCI slots for UAD-1s.

Anyone left making these that appear to work with UAD-1?

TIA,

We should petition motherboard manufacturers to create a DAW Motherboard series tested for stability with all the popular DAW DSP accelerators. It shouldn't be that different from what they already produce as a Gaming Motherboard.

Intel/AMD DAW Version 1:
-Quadcore socket
-4 DIMM support up to 16 GB DDRII
-2 PCIe X16SLI
-5 PCIe
-Dual Gigabit LAN
-1394b
-USB 2.0
-8 SATA II

Intel/AMD DAW Version 2:
-Quadcore socket
-4 DIMM with support for 16 GB DDRII
-2 PCIe X16SLI
-5 PCI 2.3/PCI-X
-Dual Gigabit LAN
-1394b
-USB 2.0
-8 SATA II

The ASUS Commando was the closest I could find - I have 2 x UAD PCI's and 1 x UAD PCIe, plus a Powercore, which I'd love to ditch if it I hadn't used it so heavily in previous projects dating back 5 years. If I got rid of that, there would be space for 4 UAD's, plus my RME card. The firewire, dual gigabit LAN, quadcore support and fast FSB is all great too. If you go with it, make sure you install the latest bios.

WOW! Looks great.

Frankly, I wasn't expecting to find -anything- at this late date, but I refuse to go down the Magma road. An unexpected pleasant surprise.

Cheers!

That's an awesome idea. But it would never work. How much of Asus's (for example) market share would UAD users comprise in this case? Less than 1% ? The if it were released, how many users would actually buy new at that time? Less than 5% of the less than 1%?

Not gonna happen, unless the CEO is a UAD user, then maybe... talk about a tooth and nail battle with finance and marketing.
