Does anyone remember the thread where someone posted an email they received from UA? It was about the changing architecture of motherboards and the disappearance of PCI slots. UA implied there was something in the works, but said they couldn’t say anymore at this time. They said they wouldn’t abandon their current users, or words to that effect. I believe there was also a reference about a PCI-E to PCI adapter in the same thread. Someone else responded and said they felt better about the UAD-1 after reading that…

I referred to the post on Cubase.net but now can’t find it.

Anyone else remember it?

I’ve tried searching, but I often get a “fatal error” when I use the search function to search for more than 1 word.

No, the one I saw was a positive email, they just wouldn’t say anything specific, giving me the impression it was pretty far in the future. But now I’m beginning to wonder if it was another forum I saw it in. I was doing dozens of Google searches at the time for compatibility of components for my new system. I hate it when you see something once, and then can’t find it again.

Will UA support the new G5's which only have PCIe and no PCI slots?

UA is committed to the Apple Macintosh platform and any developments in the UAD product line will reflect that.

We are constantly monitoring trends in computer technology, DSP and developments in bus/interface formats and therefore UA is already well-aware of PCI-E and Expresscard. For those customers that are not certain, PCI-E is a new and completely different form factor to PCI and is not backwards compatible with any PCI cards. The UAD-1 will ONLY work in PCI and PCI-X slots.

We have no new UAD product announcements at the current time, but will of course keep our customers informed of planned developments for the UAD product line as soon as we have any major news.

Is there any way to use my existing UAD-1's with a PCIe based computer?

If current UAD-1 users absolutely need to interface to PCI-E, there are a number of third party products available including those below.
