Any one tried the Asus P5P800 SE wich supoports intel dualcore (D8xx andD9xx) but still uses the 865PE chipset and agp and ddr1? Should be a sweet combo with uad, I would think.
Thanks

Bump!
I've been eyeing up a similar rig as well. I'd be keen to hear any feedback as well.

Cheers,

Hi guys,

I've posted in other thread that I've been succesfully running intel D830 3.0GHz on ASUS P5P800 SE with 2xUADs and Powercore PCI mkII! RAM is KingstonVR 2 x 512mb PC3200 DDR400. AGP card is vintage :D Gigabyte Radeon 9000 which has cristal clear dual monitor view(all that matters, really)!

Everything except LAN and USB is disabled in BIOS(Audio codec, serial and parallel port, game and midi). If you don't use network disable LAN as well. Get couple of SATA WD raptors and you're set!

PCI Slots are filled like this:

PCI 1: AUDIO card Terratec AWS88d
PCI 2: UAD-1
PCI 3: UAD-1
PCI 4: Powercore PCI mkII (This slot likes Poco very much - some problems in PCI 3)

Zero Issues!!!!! PCI bus bandwidth seems plenty - my test (track from current client's project) with about 48 24bit/44.1 tracks and dual UADs on 95% and Poco on 85% produce rock solid performance with no glitches of any kind - CPU load is under 10% before native plug-ins are inserted! Buffers are set to 1024 samples!

Overclocking D 830:

I've overclocked D830 to 3.6 GHZ (that's 20% with stock cooling - memory was running on 320 Mhz in this case; DDR533 should be used in this case to speed up performance even more) and had a stable system for couple of hours running Nuendo on full tilt!

However, Prime95 which is really THE test for overclocked CPUs is failing on one core after 5-10mins. I'm running stock speed now (the abovementioned bandwidth test report was done at stock 3.0GHz) while waiting for watercooling CPU solution with which I hope for stable speeds up to 4.0GHz (should be then close enough to compete with those speedy AMDs X2 with much better (INTEL) compatibility!!)

Cheers!

I run a P5P800SE with 3X UADs, an ATI Powercolor X700 dual head AGP gfx card, 2 GB memory, Intel Pentium4 3.2GHz.

Runs fine with no problems at all !! Apart from now I have run out of PCI slots and I wish I had bought the P5P800 which has 5 PCI slots instead of 4 on the P5P800SE.

Cheers

One small reminder, P5P800 doesn't support D8XX and D9XX dualcore, P5P800SE does!
