Anyone Using The Multiband Compressor?

Hi Everyone, I'm getting ready to do some more mixing and I was wondering if anyone out there was using the Multiband Compressor and if so, what do you think? Do you have an alternative that you like as much or better? I have both the T-Racks and Ozone plugins available on the Mac as well as the Platinum set of Waves and the new SSL to use as well so maybe you can compare them for me. Thanks as always. Emerson

Yeah i'm using the Multiband. It took me a bit to get the setttings I like but I like it. I'm able to get that final blend and dynamic control i've been looking for. Its easy to over do it tho. I like conservative settings best.

Thanks Trace,

When you say that you had trouble getting used to the settings, can you explain that a little? Thanks, Emerson

I just had to determine just how much compression I really needed. At first I tried the factory settings and I was getting TOO MUCH compression and things sounded flat and it took me a while to find just the right amount for my mixes. They still breathe but much more under control. I was so used to how I compress individual instruments that it was a totally different head for the overall mix and being able to get it to still have life, but be tight and smooth dynamics wise.

I'm having a tough time finding settings I like with the Prec. EQ too. I still prefer Pultec and Cambrigde for my mixes. I think its a matter of familiarity. i've never had a Mastering EQ like the Prec. EQ so maybe its just a matter of time before i find out how to make it work for me. I felt the same way about the Fairchild and Now I LOVE using it. Its my main Comp on Lead Vocals now.
