I finally got round to comparing my 8p vs my x6.
I recorded my voice first through Soyuz 023 Bomblet -> NEVE 1073spx -> 1176 side of a 6176 then to line in on both 8p and x6 (line gain turned off on both)
Then same mic but using the pre amp on both units (no unison plug-ins).
While the x6 sound a bit more detailed, I also find it a bit harsher and S'es tend to poke out a bit more. The 8p sounds a bit rounder and warmer (muddier).
As someone who hate harshness (and S sounds!) I almost prefer the 8p...
This was probably talked about when the X series was released but I bought my blackface units just 4-5 months prior to that and got the x6 a year ago.
Anyone else having a leaning in either direction?
