APOLLO MK II SOLO Tinny recordings

Hey guys, I'm having some serious issues. I'm getting ready to record new music for my band and when I went to start recording I noticed this metallic kinda hum in my recordings. As I played around I realized my apollo literally picks up any and every little sound imaginable. Usually giving it a tinny sound to top it off. I tried several of my guitars and got the same thing. If there is even the slightest fret buzz, it picks it up with massive sustian. I had a feet wrap around the headstock, sectioned off my bottom strings and was still getting this awful noise. Curious what's can do?

My gain is set pretty low, I'm in a low tuning (Drop A#) and I was recording dry, no vst. If I so much as touch My guitar it has some ugly noise to add to my sound. Any ideas?

Gain probably needs to be at the very lowest—all the way down. I suspect you're clipping the HiZ. Trust the physical meter, not what you're seeing in Console. Also, direct guitar can sound pretty rough. I'd put something on it to monitor. Remember to mute the DAW input monitoring as well.

My gain on HiZ is relatively low. Almost at zero. Just barley reaching yellow so the physical meter doesn't show clipping. I added a vst after just to see and the Metal hum was overwhelming in my tone. I tired adjusting monitoring, turned down all my gain on physical and in console and still had the sound persist. I'm honestly at a loss. My 2i2 is sounding better at this point and it's pretty disappointing haha.

I still think you're clipping. Unfortunately, especially with downtuned guitars, it's possible to clip the Apollo HiZ even when the gain is all the way down because it's still adding 10dB. I also think you're hearing some kind of double monitoring—either Console plus the DAW, or the regular input plus an aux, or some combination thereof.

Does playback sound the same as the recording? If not, it's the double monitoring thing, which causes extreme comb filtering. If it DOES sound the same, it's either the clipping or some processing. Post a clip, if so.

The sound is in the recording for sure. I'll try and drop a export of it and see if I can export it. It sucks cause it's just unusable.
