I'm currently working on a python script for running my LED light strips as dbfs meters. I'm testing it using my Mac running the script and blackhole for the virtual patch. I'd like to move all code etc to a raspberry pi setup with an S/PDIF input. But I'm unsure of the actual output I get from the S/PDIF. From reading am I right in thinking that when digital mirror is active on the s/pdif output, it will output the monitor mix but also allow the monitor pot to adjust the s/pdif output level. For this project I'd rather just have the exact full scaled output. So my question is, when digital mirror is off is it still outputting the monitor mix but ignoring the monitor volume knob?
