Apollo Registration and Hardware Group Management Scenario

Hello. I have an Apollo x6 HE that I haven't registered yet. I noted in the promo FAQ here that the free mic is a "while supplies last" offer...

FAQ: Apollo Rack + Free Sphere Mic Promotion – Universal Audio Support Home (uaudio.com)

Since I won't return to my home studio until 12/28, I opened a support case #795050 to ask if there was another registration process that did not require connecting the device to my PC.

Subsequently, I determined that my wife's ThinkPad P73 (that I have access to now) has a TB3 port. Can anyone here comment on whether installing UA Connect and/or UAD Powered Plug-Ins software (not sure which is needed) and then registering the x6 using her PC will create any hardware group management issues for me? I'd like to register the x6 in the same hardware group as my x4 but use it with LUNA on a new Mac Studio that I will order on January 1st. Hopefully, I'm understanding correctly that the plug-ins associated to a single hardware group can be used on two computers (one PC and one Mac).

You can download UAD11.0.1 and install it and register the unit no problem.

If it happens to go into a new system in the process, it's an easy fix for Support to handle.

Getting the redemption process started for the mic should be your current priority.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for confirming the approach and urgency, @DrewMazurek.

Thanks again, Drew. Confirming the approach worked without issue and the x6 is now registered in the intended hardware group and the promotion request has been submitted.

Drew,

My MacBook is getting fixed and I also bought an x6 and the only other laptop I have access to is a surface laptop 4 without thunderbolt. I downloaded the windows software and tried to see if it would work without (to register for the free mic) but it's not recognizing the device obviously. I also submitted a support ticket but haven't heard back, is there a way to do this in the meantime? I won't have my computer until about January 10th and I fear supplies of the free mic might run out.

Any help?

My pleasure. Let me know how it goes and if you have any follow up questions.

Unfortunately you must register the device to lock in the mic. But I would not worry, I do not think we'll run out. We add that language as a CYA.

Do you have an friend with a Mac?
