Hi everyone
I’ve watched about 20+ videos on console and I think I have a grasp on how most things function. My question is just about how people like to use console with pro tools as the main DAW and any workflow tips. I just want to get the most out of console and streamline my workflow since I am new to the UAD ecosystem.
I saw one method that had virtual channels 1-2 as the place where every track in pro tools had their out set to. Then virtual channels 3-4 was for the computer audio/monitoring to go through. Does it use more DSP when more virtual channels are used? I think in this method pro tools was also set to “low latency” mode. How do people like monitoring through console? Any draw backs from not monitoring in PT? Is sending the outs of all the tracks to virtual 3/4 the best way?
side question for HP mixes, I see a method where the above method is used and the HP mix is using virtual Channels 3/4 as kind of the master for the mix since every track is going through it. Is another possible method just setting individual outs on tracks to the HP mix and using the fader from that as a volume control for each track and getting total independence of tracks?
any general work flow/tracking/mixing relationship with PT is greatly appreciated! I’ve also seen things as easy as analog inputs 1 just being used for a unison pre amp and consolenot being used whatsoever!
thanks!!
