I’m struggling to get to a conclusion on what i actually need for my home studio

i work with the new Mac ProM3 and cant deside between the Apollo and the Volt interface

i only produce vocals and demo tracks

is it worth spending 3x more on the Apollo
Or keep it simple and use the volt ?
Maybe someone on here can give me peace of mind

kind regards
Chris

Will you need to record through UAD plug-ins, or use any UAD plug-ins which are only available in DSP versions? If so, you will need an Apollo. If you are happy using only using UAD plug-ins that are available natively, then the Volt will probably work for you.
Keep in mind that the Twin X Duo has a fairly limited amount of DSP power, particularly when it comes to mixing.

i will only be tracking vocals and demo tracks. UAD is releasing native Plug-inns at a fast rate i see

but down to brass tax the apollo is the better buy ?

Apollo twin is technically better, but maybe not 4 times more expensive better if it’s “just” to record demos. You should be fine with the volt

edit: even the volt 1 or 2 as a matter of fact, depending on how many tracks you want to record at once. If it’s only mono vocals the volt 1 is really inexpensive and will work just fine with plugins for eq / compression etc in the box.

Not sure how much it costs in South Africa, but at 129€ for the volt 1, even if you feel the need to upgrade to apollo later, that’s not a huge loss and can serve as a travel sound card or additional preamp

Hi,
I'm a songwriter (singer, drummer, guitar player). I bought a Apollo Twin X because of Vocal recording with real time Plugin (API Console, SSL ou Neve) or 'Electric Draft Guitars' and it's a game changer for me. The DSP power of Twin is enough for me because I switch to UAD native plug in for mixing parts on a Mac Mini M2 pro.
I never used a volt. If you can acheive very low latency it could be a good choice. I just want to share why I went to Apollo.
