Quick question --
I just ordered a Volt 476p and also a MacBook Air M3 as a 2nd system for on-the-go recording.

Can I use Apple's USB-C "charge" cable to connect Volt to Mac?
Can I use a Thunderbolt 4 cable?
Does it make any difference?

(OK, that’s 3 questions, but I am pretty ignorant when it comes to cables..)

i tend to look for a 20gb sec data transfer rating over power delivery as good rule of thumb on that, so yeah, a usb4/tb4 cable is good choice

Apple USB C charger cable
- Charging up to 240 watts
- Transfers data at USB 2 rates, i.e. 480 Mb/s

Apple Thunderbolt 4 cable
- Charging up to 100W
- Thunderbolt 3, Thunderbolt 4 and USB 4 data transfer up to 40Gb/s
- USB 3 data transfer up to 10Gb/s

anecdotally -- traditionally thunderbolt 3 cables with shorter length did 40gb/sec; longer cables did 20gb/sec. (aside from the $100 Apple cable, which I have) -- So that is where my number came from. :) 10gb/sec cables also good - just avoid the $5 phone charging cables with, as noted, super slow speed.
