audio glitches on bounce to disk in dp4.61 w/ v4.0

i seem to be getting a lot of audio glitches (clicks & pops) when i bounce to disk in dp 4.61. i don't hear them on playback.

this is with one audio track and a plate 140 on a G5, so i don't think the processor is overloading (even tho that is kinda what the glitches sound like).

has anyone else experienced this? i took the plate140 out and the glitches went away...

thanks!

I don't normally bounce to disk but instead mix back to a stereo track in real time.
I did try a bounce last week however and had the same issue you did so I deleted it and recorded the mix to a new stereo track and all was fine.
Over the years I've found BTD untrustworthy and the attempt last week reaffirms it for me. I know it works for most people most of the time but I've had unpredictable results (dropped automation, clicks etc.) using it and never had a single problem with real time mixes so for me BTD never gets used on anything critical.

well, i more or less agree with you, but i'm mostly trying to suss out if uad v4 has anything to do with this, so i can make it go away.

when i;m in a hurry BTD is a nice feature to have, and by golly, it should work anyway!

FWIW I had been having decent success with BTD the last few times I'd used it prior to last week. I believe that last week was the first attempt with 4.0 but I'm not certain.
Sorry I can't be definitive about that but I just don't use BTD enough to be certain.

John...

I also have been getting clicks here and there when bouncing final mixes in DP 4.61. When bouncing a 2nd time, they're not in the same place on the track, so I know they're not soundfile related. I've had to make new bounces of the bad sections, then edit to replace the clicking pieces, and bouce again to have a contiguous file as a master - a minor pain.

Also, I've bounced the very same song mixes before I got my UAD card and they never clicked this way. I use a Mac Dual 1.25, 10.4.3, 1 gig of ram, RME Digi96PST.

My UAD plugins have definately improved my mixes, but I must say I've experienced this and I agree it's a minor problem. James C at UA - have you heard of this one?

also clicks here when bouncing. It's a buffer underrun problem that can be caused by a lot of different factors. I'm on Logic Pro, but also experienced clicks in waveburner, logics mastering prog. Realtime is saver because it's slower. Once you don't trust a bounce it realy doesn't matter because you will have to check it thorough everytime and thats a lot more time consuming.

Working with the uad will give a far greater chance to have bufferproblems: every plugin is two more audiostreams (do I hear somebody scream CHAINER?) to cope with, so in a simple song you sometimes add 100+ streams. It's a small miracle it sometimes works flawless  Anyway; somewhere in the PCI buss it goes wrong. The PCI timer settings kan help a bit, larger buffers can help (pus the clicks get heacier so you notice them sooner), reducing the colors of your videocard can help, but I doubt if it ever goes away...

btw, I'm a former pc guy and things are the same on both sides, it all depends on the way you work if it will come to bother you. I met these guys lately; they claimed they never had any trouble. I listened to one of their songs. Some (tiny) clicks/plops were there, they just never had noticed.

Sorry for being pessimistic; I gues I expected better results with a mac. It's not that bad, but still... can't trust the machine
