AutoTune?

Hey Hey!

Thinking of buying Antares Autotune...

Anyone aware of any rumors or more reliable hints about UA ever adding something like that to the list?

Take a long hard look at Melodyne before wasting money on AT... Just my opinion...

AutoTune - aaarrgh!

Melodyne - aaahhhh!

If you buy Melodyne 2.6 now, you get Melodyne 3 free (any day now). If you decide to wait for v3, the price gets a hefty hike upwards. If you wanna play with it, there's a 2nd public beta of v3 available on the Celemony website.

Kind regards.

Another vote for Celemony's Melodyne. It rocks.

Waves' \"Tune\" might be worth a listen as well.

Antares took years to release the AU version of Auto-Tune, and continue to lag with bug fixes. Meanwhile, pitch algorithms and workflow methods have improved while they live in a bubble. They've made it very clear they don't deserve any more of my money.

Intonator HS, only for this plugin I bought the first powercore element, \"that\" day...

Powercore Intonator...

I've just gotten away from my MBox problem by buying an 002R.

I'm holding off on whether to trade my G5 Dual 1.8 PCI-X for a straight up PCI G5.

And of course I'm left with the Delay Compensation struggle and the VST-RTAS inconvienience.

So I'm really hesitant about getting into more troubles... Isn't there some incompatibility with the Powercore and the UAD-1?

If not, then could you tell me... Never having really looked at the Powercore closely before... What's it cost to get in just far enough to get Intonator and what else is gained along with it?

Thanks,
Archmart

Autotune works great for me as long as I use graphical mode verses the auto mode. I haven't tried the other programs so I can't comment on how they compare. Somehow I doubt UA is going to put out an autotune type plugin because when people post what they want to see from them it is always emulations of vintage gear or multiband compression, etc. Try demos of the various tuning plugins and see which one you like best.

Graphic mode in auto tune works well for me also. The Automatic feature is only useful (when tweaked) for background chorus vocals. Most of the time on a lead vox it's too apparent.

AutoTune

Just wanted to add my comments here because I've never seen anyone mention this. I've found that Autotune colours the sound of the audio file significantly. I noticed it the first time I ever used it and have experienced it every time since then. Personally, I've never been able to get much use out of it but I think the problem might be that my vocal tracks aren't that clean. I also find the Graphic Mode to be way to fiddly for me so I switched to Melodyne Uno and have been happy ever since (with the possible exception of the previously mentioned problem that you have to know the notes of the melody which I think they could do something about). Hope this helps.

Hey Hey!

Appreciate the responses...

Looks like I'm getting Digi's Melodyne uno essential with the Ignition Pack (bought an 002R and it's an automatic... if purchased after... sort of thing) so I'll try to familiarize myself with that and then, once I get the gist of it I'll try demos of their higher end options.

Thanks,

one more thing archmart. digital performer has an integrated pitchquantize similar to melodyne but reduced to the essential. you can also use performer with dae and rtas plugins. i came from pro tools a few years ago and decided to use dp cause the way of working with audiofiles is very similar to protools and dp seems to be much more flexibal! also pt - dp exchange is cool.
give it a try!

Robinsky...I purchased DP 4.5 a while ago thinking that it would work with DAE and RTAS and from what I can tell it only works as an alternate front end to an HD/MIX system and not at all with PTLE. If I am wrong, I would like to know and would give it another shot. DP 4.5 seems to use the UAD a lot better than PTLE but the 002 turns into an 002R because the control surface portion is not compatible with PT. Maybe it is just me but the PT interface is a lot less confusing than DP and DP crashes on me a lot more than PT does.

The main difference according to the interfaces is that dp has kind of an overview window (track window). that is quite irritating if you're used to PTs GUI. But I got used to it very quick, it gives you the chance to get an overview very quickly. v. 4.5 was not very stable indeed. but the the last 2 upgrades did it for me. 4.61 is really really great.
i'm gonna check the DAE/RTAS question. i didn't have the chance to check this out.

I just upgraded to 4.61 and it froze my system after about 15 minutes. I have OSX10.4 on order and will install that and see if that helps. I am probably due for a clean install just to get rid of all the junk that has accumulated over the last 2 years.

there may be something wrong with your system or hardware. i haven't had freezes since g5. my previous g4 hardware was corrupt so i had lots of problems then. still havn't any feedback on the rtas/dae topic.
