I need some advice guys...i would appreciate your help.

I make RnB and Urban style tracks if this helps.

I have a:

Neumann TLM 103 Vocal Mic,
Focusrite Pre-amp,
Logic Pro 6 with Space Designer Reverb
and my lovely UAD-1 (1176, Pultec Pro EQ, LA-2A, Cambridge EQ)

Using the tools i have above, what order of recording chain would you recommend for recording male and female vocals?

thank you in advance.

one suggestion would be:

1 ) TLM 103
2 ) Focusrite
3 ) Logic
4 ) Insert Cambridge, cut out unwanted frequencies.
5 ) Insert La2a, 2-3 db's of compression
6 ) Insert 1176ln, 2-3 db's of compression
7 ) Insert Pultec to add some sparkle
8 ) Send to bus with Space designer

off you go! :)

I agree with Sniper, however, try these settings on the compressors. Put the LA2A in Limit mode with 2 or 3 DB on the louder parts, then the 1176 with the attack fully counterclockwise and the release fully clockwise and a ratio of 8:1 or 12:1. Go for 3 to 5 DB compression, whatever works without sounding like you are pumping it. I find it really sits the vocal nicely for that style of music.

Good luck

how u guys can be so sure?

this issue depends on every voice u record. there are no perfect mic, pre-amp, compressor, eg...etc for all voices and specially the settings.

maybe there is and i miss something but i highly doubt about it.
